Does anyone have a big rock??

That I could just crawl under? This has been probably the most stressful time I have ever had in my life. I go through the day feeling like my Great Dane has been sitting on my chest. I put DH in charge of taking care of the financing for Patrick to go to college TOMORROW. Obviously, a huge mistake. The funds are still not there. Everything is in the works, but through a series of miscommunications between DH, college, and the bank....it is a total FUBAR (click here if you don't know what that means, but it's really not nice--http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/fubar). His classes will get dropped on Wed. without payment. Thanks to all my phone calls and asking the right questions, his advisors are all over it and trying to facilitate this. While we are set to take Pat to college tomorrow, our youngest kid decided to punch his brother with an open fist on Sat. We taped it up and made an appt. this a.m. Of course he broke his finger, but also broke the growth plate. So btwn running around to buy college supplies, going to the Drs. office two times today, and the hospital once for the x-rays, and once to pick up the x-rays lafter in the day, then we have a meeting w/ the orthopaedic surgeon tomorrow am-before we have to leave to take Pat to school. Ok, and if my day wasn't good enough, DH and I went to buy a few basic school supplies-at $29. Our debit card was DECLINED. No, no, no, no. we have money in our checking acct. Rushed home to access out acct.-apparently our renters bounced a $1900 check. So, I need a big rock, a really, really big rock....

Wow! I thought I was having problems. I'm sorry to hear about the unfortunate series of events you're going through. I know it probably won't do much good to tell you not to stress... but seriously, just take it day by day. Stressing over it too much will only compromise your health, and you seem to have enough problems to worry about already. I hope the sun breaks through the clouds for you soon.

Wow Lynne, that is rough. Sometimes, it seems like things happen in a cluster like that, and you are afraid to ask what next. Just hang on, this too will pass!! Have a nice glass of wine while you are waiting!!

What a horrible series of events! I hope things are better today, that the renters make good on the check and that the college funds are straightened out. It's bad enough for one seriously crappy thing to happen, but all those at once really stinks.

If your son is applying for loans, this happens all the time in college. If he has scholarships the same thing. Both of my kids started every semester waiting for some money to come in.

I can't help you with the renters, but I do have a good size rock if you still want one. LOL

OP, when you asked about a big rock I thought you were asking does anyone have a HUGE diamond ring! Seriously, I feel confident the college situation will be fine - as far as your renters - AARGH! Hit 'em with all the fees YOU have been assessed!

Linny, your humor will get you through... Over the past few years, we've all observed you in action. It's not that you thrive on stress but your inner strength shines through in times like this. You are a wonderful mom and all of your boys are blessed. Stay strong!!

Linny, how are things going today so far? Did you get everything straight w/ the renters and the school? Is there anyway for the bank to wire the money to the school?

I hope everything works out soon. I was going to say it too "this too shall pass". You are strong and intelligent and will figure out how to make things work.
I hope your tenants hurry up and pay the money along with any fees incurred.
And there is a rock but I am selfishly keeping for myself there may be a time when I need it here soon.

Just checking in - hope you give us a positive update soon.

Hopefully this particular day will, in time, be the one that you can "look back on and laugh"... although it may not feel funny for a while.

I've been there! Hang in there! Hope everything works out. I'll say a prayer.

I cant give you my rock because I use it so much but I will share it with you.

It even comes with a coffee pot. Cheer up and hope things get better.

Well, if the school advisors are really all over this, I am sure that they can at least forestall cancelling his classes temporarily. Hoping things work out....

So much stress!!! Wonder how you have survived not having a breakdown. Religion aside - some people say God does not give us more than we can handle, if that's true you ARE a rock!

I hope Pat got to school OK and that he is settled in.

Just thought I would give an update. Of course, I couldn't give one earlier because when DS loaded up his stuff for college, he took the cable booster with him, so we have been left w/o cable or internet since Tues. Gotta' love that kid! Anyhoo, it seems that things are working out ok. We took the 6yr. old to the Dr. again Tues. a.m. While he only broke the tippy-tip of his ring finger, since it was at the growth plate, he has a shiny blue cast. Our renter was on a long motorcycle ride all that a.m., but once we got in touch w/him, he was horrified of the situation. His rent checks are drawn off of his business. and a lot of checks were stopped due to a bad situation with his business partner. He gave us a new check right away, and even paid some overdraft fees that we incurred. Pat's school loans are still not all together, but two have hit, leaving a much smaller balance. DH has been in touch w/ financial aid, and since they are so backlogged, they are holding his classes til they can certify him and receive the funds. Of course, that was all Tues. a.m. And of course my period started that day as well. Tues. afternoon, we got on the road, went to a really good baseball game that eve, and then moved Patrick in to ECU on Wed. I was surprised at how smooth everything went. He didn't rush us out. We helped him a bit with setting up his dorm, and believe it or not, I only shed a tear or two when we said good-bye. I am not going to tell you how puffy my eyes have been since then....Gosh, I miss that kid! So, I guess, all's well that ends well. Thank you for your kind words and support. Your replies brought tears to my eyes. And I am so aware that there are so many ppl (and we know lots of them) who have way bigger problems than this-problems that cannot be resolved w/ a cast, a phone call or a check. Thank you so much for letting me vent w/o bashing me. Lynne

Lynne, I'm a little late here(as always) but just now read your original post and update.
First, HUGS because it's been a tough week and though things are looking up, it's still tough. I am so glad things are much improved. I hope they continue to go that way. I hope Patrick does well, adjusts well(and mom adjusts well too), the financial aid comes through so no classes have to be cancelled and your 6 YO's finger heals well and it sounds like everything with the renter has worked out!
Take care of yourself.

BTW, I too thought this was about a big diamond ring!
