I think is't so cool when I see places I've been on TV...

I was watching the Olympics last night and they did a story on Michael Phelps. He lives in Ann Arbor, MI and they were showing the places he likes to eat. They showed a Chinese restaurant and DH and I at the same time said, "hey, that's Middle Kingdom!" It's a really nice restaurant in AA that DH and I used to go to all the time when we were dating. It was so cool to see that it's still there 20 some years later.

So, do you get excited when you recognize places you've been on TV? Or am I just a big geek? Ok, don't answer that second question.

I get excited too. 24 is filmed in the LA area and I grew up there. It's always exciting to see something familiar on that show. I we are both geeks.

We went to Hawaii (my first time) in June...then came home and saw some of the restaurants on the Food Network that we went to. Glad we had good taste....ha ha

Michael Phelps is from Michigan? Where have I been? I had it in my head that he was from Maryland! All you "M" states, LOL.

Anyway, I don't think it's geeky at all. I watched a PBS special on The Adirondacks yesterday and got a real charge out of seeing all the places we visit there. A fair number of films are made here in Richmond, too, and I enjoy catching a glimpse of local stuff from time to time.

They are going to start a home for Extreme Makeover Home Edition in our area next week, so I think that will be pretty cool to see all of Central NY on that show! I love it when I see a place on the food network or the travel channel that I have been to!

I don't think he's from Michigan but he does train at Uof M which is in Ann Arbor. Maybe he went to college there or that's just where the Olympians train. I'm not sure. Ok, I looked it up -- he's from Maryland and moved to Michigan after the 2004 Olympics.

Michael Phelps is from Baltimore, Maryland he went to school in Michigan. I teach US history so I like to visit places that are pictured in our book. I was in San Antonio and saw the missions. I also went to Chicken Itza. The series "Bones" takes place in the DC area but sometimes they have the wrong streets or directions.

Oh, I forgot about that show! I grew up in central and northern NJ, so I recognized a lot of places, too. I think the Sopranos' home is supposed to be in North Caldwell and my aunt and uncle used to live there.

When I see places I've been too, I always look to see if anything has changed since I was last there.

I also like seeing the local spots here shown on commericals .I always try to find people I know or have seen somewhere else.

I get excited too.. I guess we are all geeks.

My uncle owned the bar that was on Hill Street Blues. I always got a kick out of watching the show and seeing the inside of his bar (was a stage set that they modeled after his bar in LA).
