Wow OP, I'm a little offended! Just kidding. I've always liked my first name. My middle name is boring but I like it, too -- about 95% of all Catholic girls born in the '60s have some variation of it somewhere in their name.

I used to hate my first name but now I like it. I have never met anyone with my name. I have a friend that has a SIL with the same name but I have never met her. I love my middle name. I have the same middle name as my great grandma. I am the only one in the family with her name.

I have always hated my first name. I can handle my middle name (Marie and no I'm not Catholic ) as I'm the 4th generation in my family to have it....my youngest is now the 5th. But my first name gets mutilated by anyone trying to pronounce it...let alone getting them to spell it correctly.

I hate my first name. There are millions of us from the '70s stuck with this name (because no one used it then). Bleck!

Heh I am catholic but not a Marie or an Ann. My parents wanted to be more much original (not) and name me after a month of the year, then to put a slight spin on it they added an extra letter to make my name even more miserable for me. So no I don't care for my first name and really don't like my middle either but eh I live with it.

My first name is Sabine (very popular name in Germany for women my age) and it's not that I don't like, but I have no connection to it. It's just not me ... not that I know what name would be better (for sure not my middle name).

Janet Leona and Lori Lavon! I'm thinking I got the best name of the bunch!!! LOL

I like both my first and middle names. I like the way they sound together too. I relly dislike the nickname that comes with my first name though, so I rarely go by it any more. A DEAR friend of mine and her family started calling me by another variation of the nickname and I LOVE that.

Not complaining about my names, rather common 50's names.

BUT my cousin had a middle name of Elvira. When she got married in a Catholic Church during the early 70s, just as she was about to walk down the aisle the priest told her he could not use her first name (a made-up name) because it was not an official Catholic name, a name of a saint, and so had to use her middle name during the ceremony!
Well as you can imagine, as soon as he said "will you Elvira take ..... as your husband?".....there was an audible commotion in the audience. Everyone was saying "Who is Elvira?" "Are we at the right wedding?" Since she hated that name, she had never told anyone her middle name.

Judith Ann. That's me. I'm not catholic either. I can still hear my mother calling me that name when I was in trouble. I'm not fond of it especially when I was a kid and others would tease me and call me Judi Duty. Ohhhhhhhhh, how I HATED that.

My brother's name is Douglas and we had an aunt the used to call him Dougie. He hated that.

Don't blame you Dolly....my first name is Jean and it is soooooo boring!

(and since I am a twin, I guess it was too troublesome to come up with 2 first names and 2 middle names for my parents since neither of us have a middle name)

I am finding myself wondering what all of your names are!
This catholic girl also has the middle name Marie. And my sister's middle name is Ann. I go back and forth with liking my first name. As I kid I hated it because I didn't know anyone else with it (I guess kids don't want to be different) then in my 20's and 30's I liked it because it was uncommon. Now, I'm not too crazy about it.

Yep...I'm Catholic and my middle name is Ann. LOL. Every Lisa I know has a middle name of either Marie or Ann it seems.

As for Cecelia..I like that name. She is the patron saint of music. I know alot of the Catholic orchestra girls from school take that as their confirmation name.

I didn't like my maiden name because it is French and hard to pronounce. My married name is as common as Smith or Jones. I like that people can pronounce it, but it's so common that it's boring.

I like my first name.

OOh, I think that's a beautiful name. Maybe I'll change my name to Cecilia Ophelia Ok, so that sounds a little goofy, but I do think it's a beautiful name.

My first name is Theresa, my middle is Hope. As a child I loved my middle name. I loved that it was also my Mother's, and it was not Jane, Sarah, or some other common name. Theresa was often miss spelled, but Hope is simple and not common. When I got married I changed my last name to my Husbands, and now I am thankful that my first name is NOT hope. My last name is a very common verb, it's a word everyone uses many times a day. Hope would sound awful with my Husbands name. Thanks Mom for thinking ahead for me.

Judith Arlene here. I never minded my names. I remember when I was about 12 I had the clever idea that I would have sextuplets so that I would only have to give birth once. Arlene, Darlene, Kathleen, Eileen, Marlene and, I think, Charlene.

Love my own name, it's unuusual for someone of an AARP type of age, but not weird.

Dh named our youngest ds Ebenezer (the most popular relative for hundreds of years in dh's Mainline Philadelphia family name, a name that had a meaning that was perfect for him and his circumstances of birth).

Unfortunately, our last name is a very difficult hyphenated name (thanks very much to my darling dh ;-), and it's also a *very* Christmas-y last name name. We call ds Benny, so his name doesn't bug him too much, but he absolutely hates his first name at times. (can you blame the kid? ;-)

Also, my youngest daughter is adopted and came to us with the name Merry. We thought her name was Mary, that's what all her paperwork prior to coming home stated her name was at that time. Loved that her name was actually Merry, loved that meaning. But we had to make Merry her middle name cuz during her 1st week home we heard more *Merry Christmas XXXXX* jokes than even we could handle from hospital staff. If it bugged us that much, we knew she'd be as ticked off as youngest ds over her name ;-)

I love my name Catherine, actually is Catherine Ann Mary, I know it might be plain however I do love the name Catherine, however when I was born my mom wanted to name me April because I was born in April , however my dad wanted to name me in full after his mom and so it be dad won. I know April would have been different however I feel the older i get the more I do love my name. A name I would never like would be Ethel or Gertude or Mrtyle imagine however they were very popular around the turn of the century. Peace to all, Catherine
