What do you recommend using as a container for lunches to microwave?

For about 9 years my DH has taken his lunch into work. He is NOT a sandwich guy. I make extra dinner and he takes it the next day and heats it up in the microwave at work. During this time, we have been using Tupperware Rock N Serve. We like one size (2.5 cups rectangle I think) and they've worked great for 9 years. Well, time is up. the last one doesn't seal correctly anymore. The lids have warped and I don't have the receipt from that long ago. SO, I need to find a replacement that won't break the bank (these were purchased when the Tupperware site had "surprise" boxes for like $25 and I got 3 surprise boxes and 3 sets of Rock N Serve. To replace them would be around $13 each plus shipping thru Tupperware.

What do you recommend? We have tried the Gladware I think...Target carries it. It wasn't good and lasted about 3 uses. I need something that will stand up to daily lunches, heating up and dishwasher safe. Ideas?

I have gotten replacements for Tupperware I have bought at yardsales. No sales receipt needed. It is worth a shot, and I would definitely look into that.

I am pretty sure we have the round divided rock and serve.....It is circular, good size, and has 3 compartments. There is a little "vent" on the top you can pop open when you m'wave it.

Give Tupperware a calll, and they should be able to refer you to a local rep. Oh, and about a year and a half ago, I had gone to my Mom's and we were cleaning out her cabinets/Tupperware, etc. We came across an old cake taker....the off white/clear with the beige bottom and handle. It was cracked. I called Tupperware, and they gave me the name and phone number for two reps. The woman came out and took the old set and brought a new one. WOW, they had changed a lot ;-) Give it a shot.

DH takes his lunch to work in whatever we can find but transfers it to a real bowl to heat and eat. It seems more like a meal when not eaten out of a plastic container. He also had a real spoon etc and just washes them in the sink when he is finished. He does the same when he is drinking coffee.

I'd say if you really think about it, just buying a few more of the Tupperware dishes is well worth the money. You got 9 years out of the ones you have! (Did I understand that correctly?) That's pretty amazing really. I do have those RocknServes too and I like them, and I do totally understand the expense of replacing them. They are very expensive. But I do think that you have proven to yourself that they are worth every penny. I agree with checking with getting the one that broke replaced. Tupperware used to have a lifetime warranty, I'm sure they still do. Is there any way that you could host a party (you can probably just do a book party or do it online) and get some free stuff? I also bought most of my stuff when the website did all the 'great deals' back in the day. I always end up spending more money 'trying to find something cheaper' when I have to replace a pricier 'known winner'. I have to talk myself back down to reality though and just bite the bullet and go with the known winner in the end. If you can't do the Tupperware right now, how about a couple of those smaller Pyrex dishes? Assuming he won't break them. Might be able to get a smaller one that comes with a bag or one that will fit into a padded lunchbag. My DH uses those for soup that he heats up at work. HTH.

Have you checked eBay for replacement Rock 'n Serves?

I remember those surprise boxes and have quite a few things I got that I wouldn't part with! My DH will only drink out of the acrylic mugs I received in one of those shipments and nothing else. To replace them would be an arm and a leg!

Thanks everyone! I am going to wait and see if Tupperware will replace them. If not, I'll probably look to ebay for replacements. I saw some on Amazon but they are in the big sets and I just want the one size so I might not have much luck. I'm done with the party route.

I know Tupperware USE to replace, no receipt necessary. Obviously, they know it's their product and many times people give Tupperware as a gift and the recipient has no receipt but still has the guarantee/warranty. I've had things replaced with no receipt but that was years ago. I'd definitely check in to it!

Yeah! I emailed the site, they emailed back asking me to call in with the mold #'s and that they would be replaced for free. I have to pay $4.50 shipping (much cheaper than repurchasing). Only thing is that they will only replace the lids (they warped but the bases are okay) so the lids won't match the bases but I don't care.

I wouldn't have thought to check that out. THANKS

Its amazing what some companies will do! We just had a problem with our Price Pfister kitchen faucet. It was leaking and the rubber on the pull out spout handle had deteriorated, so I called them about ordering replacement parts. They have a lifetime warranty so they sent us the parts for free! The parts didn't fix the problem, so they are sending us a WHOLE NEW faucet! The damn thing retails for $460 now! And I only had to pay $7.99 shipping!

So it pays to make that phone call or send that email to companies!!

Gotta love tupperware. I grew up on a farm and somehow, one of containers got chewed on by the field mice. My friend from high school sold tupperware and we told her about the problem. We also said if they can't do anything about it not to worry since it wasn't a big deal to us. I couldn't believe they replaced it no questions asked. I think it was a different style but they did replace it.

I'm thinking the lock and lock containers at Wal-Mart are better than tupperware for storage of food. They lock and will absoultly not spill anything and they come in different sizes and shapes. My DM got me hooked on them and at first I thought they were pretty pricey for what they were but I have drasticly changed my mind they are almost better than tupperware IMHO.
