Speaking of big rocks....

And now I do mean diamonds, how big is your wedding ring? Mine is not so big. I made the mistake of going w/ DH when he bought it. I would have made out so much better if he had gone by himself-that salesperson was a pc. of work. I ended up w/ a 1/4 carat wring w/ a wrap. It's pretty, but a bit dinky-and I have big hands. Several years later we bought a band that has one carat total weight, It's nice and thick and looks a lot better on my big hand. But still, it wasn't expensive at all. I wear that one the most. But on a lot of days, I don't wear either. And as soon as I change into my pj's those rings are off my finger. Of course, I drool when I see some rings, and hopefully one day DH will surprise me with something amazing, but we have never been in a position for me not to feel guilty about spending thousands of dollars on something that I might or might not wear. So, tell me about your big rock.

I'm lucky that I worked in jewelry when we got married.

My first diamond was .75ct that grew into a 1.25 ct. We kept the same setting but upgraded the center diamond. I found such a good deal that I couldn't pass it up. The diamond had been in the jewelry store for a few years so the price was based on when it was originally purchased and diamonds were cheaper at that time. The total diamond weight of the ring is 2.00 cts.

I think my diamond has stopped growing, I don't work in jewelry anymore.

.78 round with a vintage looking band. We did not get a wedding band to match because of the cost. There was no band that went with it, and it has fligree on the raised sides (as you look at the sides)
I wanted to get 2 super skinny prong set 1 mm bands to go on each side. He said maybe for my b-day,but I am not pushing it. we need to save $.

My solitaire is 1ct princess. My wedding band was my grandmothers and it is 1/2 ct. Then for our third anniversary, he got me a 1/4ct little band. I wear all three on my ring finger. Then for our tenth he got me a 1/2 three stone looking ring. (it has three flowers with diamonds) I wear it on my right hand. I wear all four 24/7. I never take them off.

If I new how to add pics. I would

My first ring was .48 ct total for all of the stones. That ring had a prong broken and my DH says "Let's go to the mall and have it fixed", and I wanted to know who was this man and where is my husband. Turns out, he wanted to upgrade me to a new ring because mine was tiny. The new ring is a total of 2 cts with a 1 ct princess stone, raised baguettes on the side and 13 diamonds on the band (it was a gift for our 13th anniversary). I never took off my first ring, but I take this one off every night and when I am gardening or cleaning. When I graduated college my mother gave me a pair of diamond stud earings, I think that they are .5 or .75 each but I'm not sure. The quality of the earing diamonds is very, very low. My mom also took two nearly identical diamonds from my grandmother's wedding ring and had them mounted in earings for my DD. Those are around .25 or .35 each and they sparkle like mad.

I never wear my engagement and diamond wedding rings except for special occaisions. They would get banged up all of the time at work. I have a 1 carat round, with baguettes, and a baguettes/small round band that fits around the engagement ring. it is quite beautiful (DH picked it himself).
I had my Dad's wedding ring cut down to fit me, and i wear that every day.
Dh bought me diamond earrings last Christmas...I wear them all of the time

I don't have an engagement ring.

I wear my wedding band, which has beautiful engraved designs all around it, and my 1/2 ct. princess cut diamond anniversary band. Both on the same finger.

I didn't want a solitaire because I am always afraid of bumping the stone off the top. I know now that there are stones that don't set so high. But I love my rings!!

My wedding ring is a .75 oval set on an angle and I had the band soldered to it
When I was 20 and sold my first house as a real estate salesperson I bought a .75 marquis and just recently had it remounted in plantinum with 4 small diamond channel set on each side.
I mother recently passed away and I took her .50 oval necklace and I remounted it in a larger mounting for a necklace.
She also had 2 round diamonds approx .75 each in fairly simple mountings. I had them soldered together and resized.
I wear everything everyday but take them off when I do dirty work at home and when I go to bed.

Our 15th was last Thurs. too! I got to go to Applebee's for lunch. And I got to pay with a gift card I earned at Mypoints. Lucky me!

To answer the question, I have a center stone that is about 1/4 carat and another total of 1/4 carat around that and in my wedding band in small chips. Not much. I like it, but wouldn't mind a little more. It is the ONLY jewelry I wear.

Mine is round and if I recall correctly, I believe mine is a .5 carat stone. It has 7 smaller stones that add up to about .25 carat, so it's about .75 total.

DH has tried several times to upgrade mine to bigger ones, but I'm the sentimental type. We picked this out when we got engaged 20 years ago and I still love it. I don't want another one.

It's been retipped several times and the whole setting replaced twice to keep it safely secured.

I got married right out of high school so we were young & broke, mine was prolly 1/4 c at the most. Just a basic ring w/ gold band. It lasted 16 years & then the diamond fell out. I went 'ringless" for about a year & decided to buy myself a band. "I" picked out a basic silver band with a cute little wave pattern. I LOVE silver jewelry more than gold anyway....so I'm happy.

we also got married young and broke, so mine is tiny tiny, and after 28 years I'm still wearing the same one and won't trade it for anything. BTW we paid $103.00 for all three rings.

My engagement ring has a center diamond (pear shape) that is 1/3 ct. Then there are 2 marquise cut sapphires (1 on each side of the center diamond) and then 8 small round diamonds (4 on each side, after the sapphires). Not sure what the total ct wt is. My wedding band has 3 round sapphires (big one in the center) with 6 smaller diamonds mixed in.

Can you tell I love sapphires?

I took dh to pick out his ring, but I made him choose 3 or 4 styles that he liked (one being the one I already bought! ) so he would be surprised when I slipped it on his finger. Aaawwwwwww.......

jasmom- Happy belated anniversary!!!

Believe you me I was shocked to get the bracelet. DH had only surprised me with jewelry twice - my engaement ring and the diamond sapphire necklace he brought me back from Israel. I bought my own anniversary band. He did good with the bracelet, I had no idea!

it is an antique I received from my Grandma that goes back 3-4 generations.

At first I thought it was awkward using a ring from my side of the family, but it's amazing and if DH had bought mine it woulda been small. I did however get a custom band with diamonds to match the engagement ring since that is all he had to buy.

I usually take them off when I am home. Not comfy at the computer.

Also young and broke when we got married.31 years ago .LOL we paid 35.00 for our gold bands. They're really heavy not flimsy and thin like a lot.I wore mine all the time until a few years back. Now after having some surgeries and other stuff I only wear it occasionally.I have a lot of pretty jewely but very seldom wear any of it.

I started with a 1/3 ct plain yellow gold marqiuse cut and wore it with an emerald and diamond wrap. I had a loose prong one time and they messed it up fixing it ( globbed gold over the diamond ) they then replaced the head of the ring and it wasn't right so they replaced the entire setting. Well, then it wasn't sitting as high as it had since they didn't have the same exact style when the replaced it so now the wrap was sitting as high as the diamond so I gave up on the wrap!

DH was having none of it and we were off to look for another wrap.....well, the wrap I liked was a much better quality than the original diamond we had been able to afford when we got married and he was horrified at the difference in the stones so I ended up with an entirely new ring!

Now I have a 1 CTTW 3 stone round cut ring but I am hoping to change it to a marquise cut again. It seemed so huge when I first started wearing it! I haven't seen anything I really like in a marquise cut yet, but I am on the look-out....lol Maybe for our 20th....lol

Same to you! Congrats!

And trust me...I wasn't shocked at the course of my day. Same old, same old.

No diamonds or stones of any kind in my ring, I just have a gold band with cuts around the side that are a silver color. We paid about $400 for both of our rings 10 years ago. Don't wear them anymore.
