MsMiser a Hint for You

If you need toothbrushes for your boxes or even sample size toothpastes contact some of the dentist office's in your area and see if they donate a few. If you only ask for a small amount many are willing to do that.

That's a great idea. I bet they'd throw in small toothpaste boxes, those red tabs, etc too.

Thanks slw1, I may give that a try. I'm wondering if it would be best to wait until Oct/Nov.... that way I could take a filled box and pamphlet with me to show them what it's for. What do you think? Have you tried this before?

I would just take the pamphlet with you. I haven't tried it, but a friend that is here from Jamaica going to nurses training, got a bunch of toothbrushes from the free clinic several years ago to take home. However she wasn't able to take everything and left a bunch with me and I'm going to use them. That's what gave me the idea.

Another Hint

I don't know if you have a Meijer nearby but they are running another deal on getting free socks and undies from Nabisco. Buy $10 worth of Nabisco cookies or crackers and get $10 off Fruit of the Loom. I used my All You coupons to get free Wheat Thins (Bought Kraft Mac and Cheese, Kool aid) and used the free wheat thins to qualify for the $10 off FOTL. Last week it was Hanes and I got socks, this week I got cute undies for little girls. Plus I used the $1/2 FOTL that was in last Sunday's Parade Magazine.

Meijer is about 40 minutes away from me (WM is only 5). So, I don't shop there very often unless I know they have something good on sale that I can't price match at WM, and thereby making it be worth my trip. The $10 off FOTL sounds like it would be worth my trip, thanks! Is it an instant savings? ...register coupon? ...mail-in? How does it work?

Comes right off at the register. They also have these deals: Buy $10 worth of Kellog products get $10 off a backpack (I've found backpacks for $10) Also buy certain Pepsico products and get $10 off Jeans. (The ad says ANY combination of pepsi and/or frito lay but it lists 12 pack cans, large sack of individual snacks etc. So YMMV) And buy $10 of Coke products and get $10 off shoes. Not all of these are for the shoeboxes, but it might be something you could use. Don't forget your regular coupons.

Thanks slw1! I'm going to head up to Meijer either tonight or tomorrow. I checked out their ad for this week online and discovered they also have Dentyne, Stride and Trident single packs (all varieties) on sale for 79-cents. With the .75/1 coupon from the All You mag it'll will bring the Trident Xtra Care Gum down to 4-cents. I'm assuming Meijer carries that flavor/type of Trident, but I'll find out when I get there. I bought about a dozen of the All You mags, so I've got about a dozen of each coupon. The Trident Gum could go in the shoe boxes as well.

Not for the shoe boxes of course, but Meijer also has Campbell's meatless canned pasta (SpaghettiOs, etc., 14.75 - 15 oz) on sale 6/$3. In the Sept issue of Redbook there's a coupon for .40/2 cans. If you've got the coupon and your Meijer doubles (mine does), then they'd be 10-cents a can. No one in our home will eat SpaghettiOs, but at that price I can get some for food drive donations.

slw1, I tried to give you more rep, but it won't let me right now.

I had to do 3 separate transactions, but I got 'em! I even got the Trident, too! Thanks so much for letting me know about the socks & undies, that was an awesome deal! I really wasn't sure what sizes to get, so I pray these will fit whomever gets them.

Get commitments now if you wait until closer to the "season" many individuals and organizations will be asking for money, donations, time, etc and they may be overextended. But if you ask now and keep in touch with someone in the meantime with "updates" by email, etc you will be locked in!

Thanks Anna, you make a good point. I guess I need to think about getting it in gear.
