Yes, when you can find the owner, or if you find something valuable in a store where you can trust the management, then I would turn it in. However, I have found cash in parking lots two times, and have not turned it in. I did however leave a phone #, and told management that I had found a sum of money, and if anyone lost it, they could call me. I have found $ in the self-serve lane @the grocery store. I did turn that in immediately. I have been the lucky recipient of honesty and kindness as well-once I lost my wallet in Sam's Club. It actually had cash in it for once. It was turned into the service desk. Another time, I left $80 in the U-Scan cash dispenser. That was turned in as well. I definitely believe in karma there!

I would try and find the owner or turn it into managment. My 3 kids have each found something valuable and returned it. My oldest DD found a cell phone, the owner was so happy to get it back, when he met us to get the phone, he told her to pick out something in the store and he would get it for her as a Thank you. My youngest DD found a credit card once and when we got in touch with the owner's wife, at first she was defensive and started screaming at me that my 3 yr old didn't find the card and that I was probably sleeping with her DH, but a few hours later she called an apologized and said it was her card and how could she repay us for being honest. I told her not to worry that I would hope if I lost mine that some one would return it. When we got to her house to drop off the card, she had a doll and a toys r us gift card for my DD. My son wasn't so lucky. He found a cell phone in the men's room at the mall and when we called the last number called on the phone this woman answered and said it was impossible for the phone to be in the men's room because it was her daughter's phone. (the woman was screaming at my DS that he must have stole it and now his concious was bothering him and then started threatening us) needless to say she sounded a little crazy so we just handed the phone over to mall security. My BF once accidently dropped his wallet on a rush hour train. We figured it was gone for good since he does live in NY, but a few days later he got a package in the mail and it was his wallet (everything still inside) there was just a typed note that said "I found this on the A train, I am guessing you are looking for it" there was no return address or name, so we couldn't thank the person who returned it.

I found a cell phone at the recycling bins one day, no one to turn it in to, they are unmanned bins, no one works there, they just get serviced one a week. So I just dialed the "home" number listed and it reached someone in NC, I am in OK and I am trying to explain to thie lady in NC why I have her husbands cell phone from the recycling bin, LOL. Turns out they were military and in the process of moving, he and one of the teenagers had come ahead to OK and had unpacked some boxes and brought the boxes to the recycling bins and in the process the phone had dropped out of the guys pocket. Anyway, to make a long story short, we met the next day, I returned the phone to him, he tried to give me a reward, I refused to take the money.

I found someone's purse in a cart in the parking lot of WalMart one day. It had credit cards, check book & money in it. I called the person named on the checks and left a message that I'd found her purse, everything appeared to be in it and I was turning it into the service desk. I never heard anything back from anyone. I didn't expect anything for it, but a phone call letting me know she'd gotten it and maybe a thank you would have been nice. Lisa

I am shaking my head over some of the weird people's responses to finding their things..sleeping with their dh ? Stealing and having a guilty conscience ? woooo weeeee !

I found a purse in a cart in a Walmart parking lot last fall. I didn't want to take it in to the service desk because it had cash and other things in it, and I was thinking the store staff could take the items. I looked up the person in the phone book, actually called her mother, and we made arrangements for me to drop it off at her Grandma's house that same afternoon.

The policy at work is that if you don't know or can't find the owner, everything found is turned over to security to be logged into lost and found. After 30 days if the item has not been claimed the finder can claim it. Everything unclaimed is sold at a sale held twice a year in the lunch room and all the proceeds go to our Sunshine fund. When I was working as a cashier I had a man leave $500 on the counter and after looking through the entire casino I found him playing at a machine. When I returned the money there was no thank you just the attitude that I was "bothering" him. But as gramma used to say "Some folks weren't raised right". ![]() And a little OT here but the things that are turned into lost and found are amazing. You have not lived until you have found dentures.

| I'm sure over the years I have found many many things and have turned them all in if they seem to be of any value. But nothing shakes my memory about doing the right thing as these 3 times. While living in FLA I was a Asst Manager at a gas station, Across the street was another gas station. Both used the same bank to make the deposits for the day. Well, both policies for the places required that when you did a drop to stay and make sure it 'dropped" in the collector.3 Days before Christmas I went to do our nightly drop and when I placed the key in and open the box. to my surprise there was a money bag in there. I took the bag out and went to the window where the cleaning crew could hear me taping on the door. I showed them the money bag and told them I had found it in the night drop box. . They opened the door took my name down and I went home. The next day the manager from 2nd gas station called to tell me it was their money bag and the Dist manager had did the drop but didn't stay till it dropped and rechecked. She told me it was their over the holiday drop and had over $27,000.00 in the bag .. Do you know I never got so much as a call from that Dist Manager, not even a walk across the street to say THANK YOU for saving my ass and job. Unreal !!. BTW there would have been no way had I wanted to keep that money bag for them to known it was me, 27,000 sure would have been a really nice Christmas for the kids, but the guilt would have eaten me up inside.2nd. Found a man's wallet with a signed check with no name made out to the tune of 1,000.00 ( was in the parking lot of a sporting good store ).also had over 300.00 in cash, CC and a checkbook. Address listed on check was 2 streets over from where I was living . I found the wallet over 30 miles away. I called , man agreed to met me at my house later that day. He came over, walked up , knocked, I said hi glad I was able to find it and return it to you with everything inside. he took the wallet and walked away !!!! I swear to this, Never even said Hi to me or Kiss my butt Nothing ! Held his hand out took the wallet and turn and walked away ! Talk about being ungrateful !!![]() 3rd. while shopping in a Kmart that as going to close I found a wallet photo sleeve. It had a few pictures of a girl on a soft ball league and 1 lone picture of a older lady.Something kept telling me not to lay it back down but to keep it and try to find the owner.BTW, I found the photo sleeve on a top rack with wallets. On the backside of the girl's picture was her name and the position she played and the company that took the picture. When I got home I called the photo company and told them I had found the photo's and could they please look up the info from the picture and call them. About 15 or so Min's later a lady called me in TEARS I mean in TEARS.. she explained that the picture of the older lady was her mother and she had died the week before that was the ONLY picture she had of her. When she came to get the photo's she gave me a little gift box. I tried my best to tell her nothing was expected, but she kept saying please take it please take it you don't know how much that picture meant to me. I finally agreed to take the gift . WOW it was beautiful. It was a little glass ring holder with an angel on it. I kept it for years till I was moving and it got broken in the move ..This happen after the 2 other times and you know, That lady sure made up for the other 2 a million times over. I'm so glad I listen to my self and didn't sit that sleeve down. no telling what would have came of it had I did. I can only hope that the 2 men that didn't even bother to say thank you will one day understand thats all thats expected sometimes. We can only hope they will learn that. |

When I was a teen I went in a restroom at a mcdonalds. There was a "money bag", the leather zip type, tucked into the handicap rail. It had probably $5000 in cash, checks, drivers licenses, insurance cards. It was a local insurance company worker's stuff. I was staying with my grandmother for the sumer. We took it home, and called the police. They came out and took it, and all our information. The lady that it belonged to sent my grandmother flowers and placed a nice ad in the paper to thank my grandmother. The police apparently only told her about my grandmother finding it..maybe it was more appealing to say that a little old lady found it..ah well. ![]() I've found numerous things since then, and have returned them, or turned them..nothing of this value, and no heartwarming experiences of thanks from anyone either! LOL

Omg, that is so funny. My parents stayed at a hotel for a couple of days. Upon leaving they did the "under the bed check" where a pair of dentures were found. It was a nicer hotel. They got a free stay.... |

I found a purse in a WM Parking lot in the cart return (sitting in a cart). I sat out there for about 20 mins with it on the top of my car (I was parked next to the cart return). No one came over, so I went inside and turned it in to the Customer Service desk. I know that when I walked away, I did get the feeling like, "what if someone takes something out of it, this person will think it was me". Not that this person would know who I am, if they even got their purse back, but still.... I should have just looked for a name or something. The purse was opened and I did see a wallet and cell phone inside. I could have easily called. Next time

| I found $ at the bank
It was just lying on the floor in front of the teller as I walked up, so I picked it up and handed it to the teller ... now what he did with it is another story. Have you ever wondered what the receiver does with the "lost" goods you turn in?
