I learned a new word last night!

I was watching track and field last night on the Olympics and the announcer was talking about the runners in an upcoming final. He said something like, "we'll see if they "podium'" meaning win gold, silver or bronze. Podium used as a verb -- that's a new one to me. It made me do this> and this.

I think that is a sports interpretation of a word. Of course, if it is used consistently, it will sneak in to the Webster's by next year. Shakespeare would be proud.

Interesting, for sure...I like the terms, " lawyer up"..."man up"...and " unleash the lawyers"...I hear those on Nancy Grace a lot.

That's better than the last one I heard around here...
get this, I saw a local TV commercial advertising a Labor Day "Staycation" Celebration.

Ok.. so you don't have enough gas to go anywhere on Vacation so they planned some kind of public city park Staycation complete with live music, fireworks, inflatables, etc.
Things that make you go hummm

Staycation: I've heard this word a lot this summer, too. A furniture store uses it in one of their ads. Yeah, I can't afford a real vacation so I'll buy a ton of new furniture so I can enjoy my "staycation". Give me a break.

They were doing "Staycation" ideas on our news every night this summer. They'd showcase somewhere around the city and kept saying how when you live somewhere, you never take advantage of the things offered in your own city. There's truth to that!

I also heard "Phelpsian" on the Olympics. As in" they're on a Phelpsian run. " Meaning they're getting lots of gold?

Not too surprising since up until now they were using "medal" as a verb - "I wonder if he'll medal in this event"
