Paralegal Tech 2 (the state decided we needed to have paralegal assistants, tech 2 and tech 1) the funny thing is, the tech 2s and 1s all have the same credentials and all 3 titles do the same work. You had to mail them a check for $15 incase of a test so you can become a tech 1. They gave you the title provisionally when they cashed your check. I was a tech 1, but when I took a transfer back to my original office they gave me a demotion instead of a transfer. The only difference between me and the other two girls who are in the provisional tech 1 spots is my check is $20 less. I was paying over $100 a week in gas to travel to my old office, and now I am 10 min from home and just have to fill my car up once for about $40, so I am still ahead

I sent notices for noncompliance with CC&R's, also manage a bunch of teenagers who are our pool monitors (not lifeguards) they make sure who is coming to the pool, is who should be coming, and kicking out kids under 16 with no adults, also take care of reservations for our Community Clubhouse for weddings, birthdays, church parties, funerals... You name it! Yeah, I also have 4 kids under 7, the littlest being 3 month now! |

Educational aide to one special little 8 year old boy. It's tough, demanding and extremely rewarding. We go back on Tues. I've missed my lil bug!I subbed for 13 years after earning my degree and wanted something more permanent without the paperwork, planning, etc. This works, but the pay is BAD!!!! Less than $15,000/year. (no real benefits either). |

I have been a consultant for a gourmet food company since Feb. I do home shows, craft shows, etc. I also started substitute teaching in May. I was pretty much able to work every day I wanted. Looking forward to school starting again.

I'm a licensed massage therapist! I went from being an emissions control technician at an oil refinery before hurricane katrina and then was laid off for a 6 month period due to a waiver being put in place (basically b.s., blah, blah!). So I went to school on my "time off" and I love it so much that I've never looked back. I basically set my own hours and can take as many appointments as I can fit into a day. And if DD has an event at school, I just take off. I wouldn't change a thing!

In my previous life I was a document control supervisor at a nuke plant - retired at 41 (after 20 years), then became a SAHM, then a bump in the road, in October I have to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life. I would love to work at the elementary school. When my step-sons went there I volunteered all the time. I love that age. They are still polite, they listen, and new things are exciting to them. What kind of credentials do you need to become a Library Media Tech? It's funny how you get an impression of people that you see on the boards for awhile and you would never assume that they did what they do (if that makes any sense,,,lol) .

Annadrose, I am a field rep. too. Without divulging too much information I wonder if we work in the same industry. I work in the "insurance" industry as a field rep. I love my job and I get to work from home, get a company car, and make my own hours. Sounds like an ideal job, but it can be really stressful and you have to be very organized to keep "on schedule".

| Yes, the insurance is expensive. We just renewed for the year and it is $64,000.00 for our auto insurance alone, and another 16,000.00 for our commercial liability. Worker's comp insurance is another 50,000.00. Insurance is a killer, and this time of year (renewal) is not my favorite.
