That sounds awful! I don't really know if what I get is night sweats but sometimes I feel so hot at night and we have the A/C set on 76 and a very light blanket on our bed but my DH gives off a lot of heat!!! ![]() My aunt recommended wearing the moisture-wicking shirts after she went through the 'change'. Also, I notice that I am less overheated at night if I stay away from sugar/calories in the evenings? I hope that you sleep better tonight. |

I am pre-menopausal and have major hot flashes & night sweats but I have never felt cold - on the contrary, I feel like a raging furnace. At night it's common for DH to have his half of the electric blanket on high and me sleeping with only a sheet over me!

I'm 45 and have had them constantly for the past two years or so. It's just something that I've learned to just put up with. I keep telling myself that eventually this will pass. My doctor said that it's most likely hormonal...perimenopause. Not much you can do about it unless you want to take hormones which isn't an option for me. My friend Mary is ten years older and has been through this before. She suggested taking some soy or vitamin D. Three days ago I started taking these tablets called "Estrolife"...I got a few boxes of them when Eckerd was going out of business. They don't expire until '09 sometime. Anyway, they have soy and all kinds of vitamins in them. It may take 30 days or so to kick in, but it's worth a try. I feel for you...it's just miserable going through this. I've actually had to get up and take a shower in the middle of the night I've been so soaked. Perhaps a fan on your night table might help? Have you started/stopped any medication lately? That will also mess with your body. ~Lisa

I'm in my 20's so I don't think it is any part of that, although it rarely does happen to people early on. I don't take any medication at all. Already have an ac/fan which is in the window right near the bed. This is completely different than waking up really hot...I can see that some of you have experienced these. You are absolutely soaked when you wak up, and am absolutely freezing at that time. I've read they are also called "cold sweats".

I don't mean to frighten you and I am not a medical practitioner of any sort...BUT, when I give blood there is a question on the form that asks whether the donor has night sweats - I assume because it is a symptom of some condition or another. So, you may wish to check with your Dr. on this...just to be on the safe side. In my case, I laughed when I read that question, because I had to check "yes", but I was pretty sure that my "condition" would not disqualify me from donating! Night sweats...day sweats....whenever my internal furnace decides it's time....LOL ![]() cj/

Funny, I have been waiting for a blood drive to be held near me so I can donate again..I don't even remember that as a question, but probably because it had never happened to me except that once a few years ago. I definitely think it's caused by something going on with your body..it's not just a normal body warming experience, but who knows what. I will bring it up the next time I go to the drs.

Night sweats has to do with TB. You should at least get a skin test if you haven't had one recently. Also, you can go through early menopause. I was told I was in it at 27, but apparently got my hormones back under control. Anyway, that is what the forms for night sweats means.
