| Reynolds has given consumers SUCH a favor !
Recently, Reynolds foil downsized their 75 and 25 foot foil packages to 70 and 20, respectively. Ok, ok, seems many companies are doing this, squeezing the consumer from both sides by reducing product and keeping the price the same, or raising it. However, Reynolds is really looking out for the consumer! This week, I saw on the 20 foot packages a nice yellow dot that states this is a space saving box!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, can we stand it anymore? What can the consumer expect next? dl

| Email them. That is what I did, and they sent me a coupon for a FREE Breyer's item, up to $7. Then, I waited for it to go on sale BOGO, and got 2 for FREE.

Manufacturers have been downsizing products for years. It seems strange that people are just now beginning to notice. Candy bars began downsizing some years ago, and haven't stopped yet. I used to buy gallon sized tea bags years ago. It now takes 2 bags to produce what 1 bag used to do. And the saga goes on and on.

pasta is now in 12-13 ounce packages that used to be a pound. I haven't just started noticing. It seems like they did it, but it seemed to slow down. Lately it seems everything is getting downsized at the same time. Lisa

Makes couponing even more critical. I have over 100 pkgs of Reynolds foil stockpiled, free with coupons at Walgreens. When it's free, I couldn't care less if it's 20 or 25 ft. But I hear what you're saying about the downsizing of the products and increasing the prices.

oohhh I was upset this past week when I grabbed for the package of Dixie Paper Plates that I buy at Walmart for $3.72. They previously had 145 plates per package and then they lowered to a 120 count but even that was old news, this package count is 100. and no I'm not mistakenly buying a variety of packages - it's the same bar code sku #. UGH! This is me yelling--- I'm tired of getting nickeled and dimed to death over the gas price fluxuation.my nickels and dimes are mine I tell ya! ![]() X

I remember when m&m's went from 16 ounce to 14without fanfare. A year or so went by and their new marketing blitz was THE POUNDER when it went back from 14 to 16. Presented much the same way as Reynolds, like it was a favor. Quietly, they've gone back to 14 ounce. Ice cream, cereal, laundry soap, shampoo, tp, etc have all downsized. The consumer has to be more and more savvy in their strategy. And in the m&m instance, sure didn't stop me from buying them, the little buggers are just too good! dl |

Talk about trying to fool the us consumers, does everyone realize that all the items we need on a regular basis are always located on the back of the store or its the last aisle. Sure this way we say I am only going into to pick up some milk, meanwhile we must walk past all the aisles and of course, we manage to pick up a few more things. It always happens, milk, juice, eggs, butter, bread should be right in the front, but that will never happen. Peace. Catherine

The one good thing is they haven't figured out that their coupons still exclude only the 25 ft. box. So this makes for free foil sometimes - stock up before they change to coupon to say it excludes the 20 ft. box. |

Edys has done the same thing as Breyers. 1.5 containers. Blue Bunny has not, but their pricing is also reflecting that. But really, isn't the smaller size doing us a big favor when it comes to caloric intake?? We haven't had too many complaints, and the ones that do complain surely could definitely go without ice cream for a LONG while..LOL However, if you look in the back of the stock on the shelves-the older containers might still there for Breyers. They don't get rotated that often Folgers Coffee, have you noticed? All skus are losing ounces. TIP, get it now while the stock is just in transition, if you want. The key is to look for the gold lids, those are the larger sizes. The Black lid is the smaller. It will also say makes 240 cups instead of 270. The Folgers Classic, however, still has black lids, but if you look on the label, the larger size package will say "Aromatic" or something to that effect in a big yellow area on top of the label. I had to laugh about the Reynolds wrap "fits in the drawer better" post.. LOL!! That's too funny. I just bought one and thought it was smaller, but I don't buy enough to notice. I was quite pleased with the smaller package size because I have problems opening my kitchen drawer with the size they did have. But I had no clue the amount I was buying really did get smaller! (duh!) Single bottles of Frusion by Dannon, has also gone from a 10oz container to a 7oz. This is the size that used to be in their 4 packs. My son noticed right away when I bought some. He said, "mom, this used to fit in my hand better, did it get smaller?" .The tuna downsizing still ticks me off, though.
