I mean, can I make it through ONE DAY without falling off the wagon? Is there a pill to break my sugar addiction? Hmph! Help me -- before the pounds increase. I'm starting to feel the effects on my health -- and I live on the 5th floor, no elevator. Just give me something -- encouragement, an eating plan, SOMETHING. Can you feel the desperation here??

I highly recommend you buy the book by Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Royzen (sp???) "You on a Diet" . They have a few other ones, too. Start RIGHT NOW. Don't worry about past failures. Examine what and why you are eating. Also, eliminate High Fructose Corn Syrup. It seems to be in EVERYTHING. No diet sodas...... Take it one minute at a time, if need be, and don't forget to get moving. Good Luck. You can do it!!

Dr Oz's book is great because it explains through words and diagrams how certain things (sugar is especially harmful) affect your body and exactly how they make other things affect it. I am not sure what to say. You just need to convince yourself that the "loss" of enjoying the sugar is a greater gain than the "cost" of that enjoyment. for example most of us don't do drugs not just because they are illegal but because we know that even though we may feel good for a minute (or however long) the damage it does is not worth it. Sugar is kind of the same. Satisfy your sweet tooth with fruits or other substitutions for a while but you really need to figure out why the "pleasure" of eating sugar is worth more than the "cost" and MORE IMPORTANTLY you need to figure out what is missing or dysfunctional in your life and/or thought process that you fill it up with sugar. Let's face it-we do things for a reason. What is your reason? Figure it out for your own good. You might try the "15 min" method. Do without it for 15 minutes then tell yourself "if I would have eaten it 15 mins ago it would be gone I'll just pretend I ate it" or just keep putting it off for 15 more minutes until you find something else to think about. But you have to WANT TO DO IT. You cannot eat sweets if you don't buy them. Period.

I go on and off my diet too I really want to get rid of 20 pounds, I did just lose 15 pounds about 3 months ago, and then gained 7back on, I just ate healthy lots of chicken, vegtables and fruit, my downfall is junk food I like everything sweet. I need to get back on with eating healthy, walk more and stay away from sweets. I also agree with writing down what you eat, helps to keep the calories low.

I also do weight watchers and it does work. You can splurge once and a while, but not ALL the time, which is what I used to do. If you can get away from sugar for a while, you will feel better. It has a lot of highs and lows and I feel alot better not eating it all the time.

HOn , the advice I can offer is this, start with small steps, first accept yourself for you , your the most important person in your life, so you must love yourself no matter what. THen realize it will take time but with determination and a true mind set, you will reach your goals. I would first have to say is to continue to eat healthy, eat smaller portions, try not to skip meals, because when you do eat you will be starving. Next step is do not drink soda,if plain water is too plain , jsut add some fresh friut , sqeeze a fresh lemon and some oranges into the water and lots of icecubes it will taste good, literally any friut will do. Of course exercise is very important as well. You do not have to go over board but each day do a ltttle bit more and it will get easier. I wish you much success and hang in there and keep us posted. peace, Catherine

Start with one thing at a time! Don't try to change everything at once.. it's too hard and you'll most likely fall off the wagon that way. Start by... I dunno... cut your amount in half.. if you want something sweet, don't deprive yourself.. just say ok, I can have this, but only eat half as much as you would normally... then after a couple of weeks switch it up.. only have your sweets after lunch Aslo increase your water intake.. again do it slowly.. a lasting change sticks better if done slowly so your mind and body can adapt better. I was told to slowly lower my caloric intake.. if I was eating 4000 calories a day to lower it to 3500 a day for a couple of weeks.. then 3000 and so on
