Well everytime the summer or wamr weather rolls around we drink alot more icetea. We always do and yet we always loved our coke classic. So this summer I have been making my own homemade icetea and adding all types of friut into the mix and lots of ice and its been some really good icetea to drink. So then we tried soda and first we all thought it was just each individual person, but man oh man was the coke so strong any syrupey sp... YucK we do not like soda anymore which I guess is a good thing. My dentist once told me that they did this experiment and they put someones lost tooth into a glass of soda and within one week the whole tooth was gone. So I am glad this has happened, has this happened to anyone else. Just trying to eat more healthy these days. Peace . Catherine

I totally agree I always did love icetea and always did love soda grew up on Pepsi. Then switched to coke when I became 18 and it was all the soda I loved. However now I always still drink alot of juices and alot of vitamin water omg I love love that stuff. BUt to tell you the truth I do not miss the soda, the taste stinks way way too strong. I told my dh I want to get a juicer cause I truly want to eat more healthy and with the juicer you can put any friut or veggie in and in seconds you got all naturally 100 friut or juice drink. Peace. Every now and then I have a diet cola. But for the most part I can't stand them. They are just like what you said, too sugary and strong. When I did drink them often, I didn't notice this. I actually craved them. But now, blech. I love Iced Tea and feel that it is a much better alternative. Even better yet, is just plain water. |

I never drank Coke till this past year. For the past year I've managed to get tons of free Coke so I have been drinking it a lot.I used to hate it ,but it seems its a taste that is aquired for me.If I don't drink it for a few weeks I will lose the taste for it and it will taste like household cleaner to me.But once I start drinking it again more often ,it will start to taste good again. There is always Coke in the house for bf but I prefer either juice or diet flavored water. I have so much Kool-aid in the house now that once my free coke and Fuze and Crystal Light are gone I will be buying some cheap zero calorie sweetener and will probably be drinking kool-aid the rest of my life. |

I stopped drinking soda - switched to flavored seltzer water. I find now if I drink more that one soda, the next day I'm dragging and just want to sleep (unusual for me). It's like I get a soda hangover!

I stopped drinking soda cold turkey when I joined weight watchers in Feb 2007 and have never looked back. My favorite was Coke Classic. Now I only drink water or I'll have an unsweetened iced tea if I go out to eat and feel like I need something other than water. I have the mindset that I would rather eat than drink my daily calorie points. Although if I get the opportunity to have a good Long Island Iced Tea, I'll go for it. It has a splash of Coke in it but if you've ever had one, you know all the other stuff overpowers the Coke taste. |

I drink about 2 Cokes a month, I normally drink water or iced tea in summer/hot tea in winter. DD drinks maybe 2-3 sodas a week, DH drinks Dr. Pepper everyday and lots of it. The dental hygienist has given him printouts about why not to drink soda which caused him to cut back drastically for awhile, but now he is back to normal. Yes, it destroys your teeth and your bones.

I grew up on Pepsi...my dad worked for Pepsi for years and every week he got 4 free cases to bring home. But after I left home I switched to Coke and couldn't drink Pepsi anymore. I did switch to the diet version of sodas, but some of those were too sweet/chemical tasting for me so I pretty much stopped drinking soda all together. I will occasionally have a root beer if we go out for dinner, but otherwise I won't drink it. Now I prefer Sobe (the yumberry pomegranite flavor is OUT OF THIS WORLD, as well as the Nirvana flavor which is mango melon) and Snapple Mango Madness.

I love water. When I am thirsty it is the only thing that quenches it. I like tea but even decaf has too much caffeine for me. How do you make it with fruit? Do you use fresh? This sounds like a great treat. I like to put oranges and cucumbers (not at the same time) in my water. It gives it a fresher taste.

I gave up dring any carbonated drinks before I had my gastric by-pass because my dr said it will stretch the stomach and I wanted this little stomach to remain little! my dh (a six pack of diet dew a day guy) gave up carbonated drinks this last spring when we saw a show and I researched it on the net that carbonated drinks leach the calcium from your bones! there is pros and cons on the net but several studies including one about women having osteoporosis said this! Here are 10 ways you can prevent or reverse osteoporosis: 1) Stop the Pop! Carbonated beverages such as soft drinks, Champagne, and sparkling water leach calcium from your bones. A Harvard study on 16 to 20 year-old women showed that half of them were already showing bone loss as a result of excess soft drink intake. Carbonated beverages also have excess phosphates, which cause even more calcium loss. and from the biomednews; Carbonated Cola Drinks Drop Bone Density in Women I could not let this one pass. This is very depressing to those of us who love diet colas like Coke, Pepsi and Dr. Pepper. But the evidence seems incontrovertible--drinking these frequently (5 or more a week) will actually leach calcium out of your bones. And one tiny older woman I know had already been told by her doctor not long ago to cut out colas and start taking calcium when her bone density test came back unfavorable. everyone has thier own opinions but this was enough for me! we drink water and tea and really haven't missed the sodas! just like I gave up sugar before my surgery and its been 3 years, the other day I kept thinking about a chocolate old fashioned doughnut, and the local store where I used to get mine was giving out free samples so I thought just one bite!!!! it was awful!!!! heavy greasy and way too sweet and I used to think they were wonderful! yuck!!!

omg ladies thanks for all the input, I deeply appreciate it, I am glad we are not the only ones who have realized how bad soda is for us and that we can live with out it. I have always been a heathy eater, we eat alot of fish, vegatables and salad, i simply love salads, Now the only thing I have to work on is lowering the amount of sugar I put into my hot tea which I love to death, any ideas on how to cut down peace to all. I don't think I have had a real Coke since I was in high school-I do enjoy my diet Pepsi's but I probably only have about one a week since they give me gas-TMI, I know. I do drink a lot of mint iced tea, but even in the south I grew up w/ unsweetened iced tea. I probably drink about 4 glasses a day. I shouldn't since it gives me the jitters, but it is just so smooth going down.

| Me too. Or Pepsi. Whatever is on sale. But it can't be DIET. Yuck! In fact, I'm drinking a Pepsi right now. I agree with Lucy though on this one...juice and water are so much more healthy for you. I do have a juicer and a smoothie maker. I don't know why I haven't gotten them out and used them. I know that soda is no good for you...I'm just hooked on it. I've always loved iced tea...oooopppsss, sweet tea as they call it down here in the south...yummy. ~Lisa

I used to drink 2-4 diet drinks a day but 2 years ago gave it up. I gave up all artificial sugars. I have had a reg. coke since but it was SO sweet...eek. I drink lots of water and coffee. I also drink raspberry iced tea made with Monin Raspberry Tea Concentrate. They use cane sugar, not corn syrup. I also like italian sodas (made with fat free half and half and syrups that use cane sugar). Pretty low calorie and fun and *I* control the sweetness which I like. Pepsi has ALWAYS been way too sweet for me, even when I was a teen and drank a lot of pop.
