Labor Day Plans/

Just curious what everyone is doing this weekend. My DD who is 11 will be going with a friend and I am feeling lonely. My oldest is working all weekend and Hubbie works on Saturday. Not sure what middle daughter is doing but I guess that leaves us with Monday. Ugh I hate the kids getting so big.

got an HOA cleanup day tomorrow to get rid of dead trees (yee haw) and then Sunday DH and I are going on a motorcycle scenic ride (all helmeted and geared up ) while my parents watch the kids. Monday....no idea. We are having my parents for dinner tonight. Maybe we'll hit our neighborhood pool Monday. It's the last day it's open for the season

Well, I'm taking DD (14) and DS (12) to Chili's for dinner tonight. After that, I'll probably sort through my coupons that are in piles on the floor here in the basement. I may sort through some clothes and purge some stuff. Then, I'd like to resume painting the basement. I started about two months ago then just stopped. I need to just get in the mood to finish this job. DH is down at the condo in PC Beach until tomorrow night. He's doing some work to the place before our September renters come in after Labor Day. My oldest DS (17) is at this music festival in Macon, GA for the weekend. ~Lisa

Nothing. We are being lazy. We are going out for dinner tonight and grabbing some movies at Blockbuster on the way home. I don't plan on leaving the house for any reason

Well oldest DS will be playing in the band at the ECU/UVA game on Sat. Go Pirates! He's the tallest one in the band if anyone watches. Youngest son went camping w/ my parents and won't be back until Mon. DH and I, along w/ the two middle boys are heading up to DC for the weekend. A while back I won baseball tix to a Nationals game at a silent auction. These are Ryan Zimmerman's personal seats-he donated them, as he graduated from the same school as my kids will, under the same coach as my son. So we will do some sightseeing on Sat., hit China Town for dinner, and then head to the game and then home on Sun. I am excited-should be a lot of fun. Hope everyone has a great, loooong weekend.

I just had some foot surgery today, so I'll be home all weekend with that propped up on something. The only bummer is that it's my twins 18th birthday. They want to go out and have sushi with their friends, so I guess that will work out.

We'll try to go out as a family next weekend when oldest DD can come home from college.

I'll be working on clearing off my back porch, a job that is long over due.
Hopefully Sunday or Monday I'll get over to eldest DD's for a dip in the pool and see how sil is coming with his latest home make over project. They are moving their bedroom to the second floor dorm room. Only problem is, their king size mattress won't go up the stairs. So he is taking out a window up there and installing a door that will go out to a balcony that he's going to build up there.
I just hope he'll take a break on Monday to throw some brats on the fire pit.

We, too, are not "going away"

Lucky for us though, we live in a great tourist town, lots to do here. We will, of course, have the requisit football practice and game, Friday night and Sunday morning. Then we have a Parade Of Lights, which is basically a boat parade. All the locals decorate their boats with lights and themes and they run a mile or so from and to the harbors. Then there are fireworks. It's always a good time! We also have some Navy and Schooner boats showing off.... along the way, on land, everyone has cookouts, hangouts, conversation. It's a good time. The opposite, actually of Memorial Day, when everyone says "hello" for the summer, we are now all saying "goodbye".

I love my city. Expecially these days, when it's been just too expensive to go to someone elses.

Happy end of summer all! Till the next one!

I'm right there with you, Ballmom! Spending today getting things picked up around the yard, bringing plants inside, locating all important documents, loading up on supplies we need to take with us (cat and dog food), and praying!

I really don't want to go anywhere!!! Most of my Katrina memories are not great ones...but then I think about getting the chance to travel and spend time with the grandkids (ages 2 and 4), and things don't look so bad! :-) My son has to work today so the kids are coming over this morning to help us prepare...HA HA...which should be quite interesting! Going to the store with Haley (age 4) is always fun, however. We both make a list and help each other locate our items. Of course, we make Andrew a list to carry around, too. It's usually says something like, 'I'm going to pee pee in the potty today for Grandma!' We don't always get what's on Andrew's list!!!

It's looking like we will have to evaculate, and we (four adults--one is pregnant--two small kids, four large dogs, and two cats) will be driving to Nashville. Looks like we might be heading out in the morning.

We will know more tomorrow--Marilou

Well, our Labor Day "weekend" started this Wednesday. I took off work since Tuesday. DD's junior high softball team played in a 2 day tournament which our school hosted, so I spent 2 days at the ball park either watching games or working the concession. At the same time the school/town fair is going on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, so I took in an registered fair exhibits for 4-H for a couple of hours. Helped our 7th grade class work on their float until 11:30 at night one night, as well as many other days, we won 2nd on the float. Went to my good friends wedding rehearsal dinner last night, then raced back to work in the Library Council booth at the fair from 8-9:30 last night. Parade yesterday afternoon at 1:00. Getting ready now to go to the ballpark to practice pitching with DD, going to friends wedding at 2:00, going to the fair tonight. Tomprrow (Sunday) church, have to take DD to pitching practice with her pitching coach, maybe we can actually swim in the pool. Then Monday we are just going to relax, swimm in the pool and cookout.

Yesterday was DH birthday and today is my birthday so I baked us a cake ( really him a cake because I really don't need cake). I plan to cook us a nice dinner tonight and him and I will eat dinner and maybe sit and watch some movies together and just have some quiet time. Sunday we are going to the furniture store and maybe hit up Ikea for somethings for the new house.

With all the stuff going on with building our new house we haven't really had any down time so I think that is our plan for this weekend just do things at our own pace and not have to run around here and there and make decisions regarding doors, walls, plumbing and so forth. I am about done with this construction stuff and we have a contractor I can't even imagine what it would be like to do it yourself. Monday I have to go into work in the afternoon we are having an event that requires me being there bleh.

Big beers are a couple of bucks, I don't know about the drinks because we are beer drinkers There is a list of about 12 appetizers for 2.99.
They serve this on the bar side and outside.

A whole lot of nothing going on here, as usual. We are always so broke. Friday I went grocery shopping at Costco. Saturday I went grocery shopping at Super Walmart. Today we went to church and came home. Tomorrow we are going to Chuck E. Cheese (ugh)...the kids like it and my dad has offered to take us all.

Saturday was the home opener for Badger football. Tailgate in the morning and cocktails after at our friends house. It was pretty hot at the game.
Sunday we went to the Taste of Madison. All these great restaurants and bands around the Capitol. Margaritas at friends house afterwards.

Today we are home! Yay!
