Typically, software sends spam email, rather than people. Since it doesn't cost anything to send it, if you send a message to 100,000 addresses, and make one sale, you're still coming out ahead. Software looks through websites for addresses, and compiles them. You can buy CD's that are just lists of email addresses. There's really no foolproof way to prevent spam, since it tends to come from varied sources, and usually, the 'From' address is fake. Also, if you block a server that's sending it, you'll block legitimate messages coming from the same server. Your best bet is to keep a Hotmail or Yahoo address you use to sign up for freebies or anything commercial, and keep a separate address for personal correspondence. Don't post your full address online. |

I don't know how AOL mail works, but I use Thunderbird and have the ability to create 'rules' for my mail. If you told your mail program to send any emails containing the word "PHARMACY" to your junk or trash folder, at least you'd never see them. You're extremely fortunate if this is new to you. I've been getting emails like that for... well... about as long as I've had email! |

mine come as an image in the mail now so the program cant "see" the word to send it directly to junk box

AOL is such a pain in the a&&. we had it for our business and I began getting emails from buyers saying they had emailed us a few times and it came back as we were unknown users. finally it allowed the email to come. so I emailed our aol account from our gmail account and yep. aol said we were unknown users. tried to contact aol and got no where, either they didnt speak english or their accent was so thick no one could understand them. one told me they were in cuba! so we dropped them. the minute we cancelled it, we got tons of email from them wanting us to come back offering free 3 months and such.they called our home and our business and left long messages about the great deals they were offering us to come back. why would we go back? we were loosing business because they are such a crappy service.
