| Thanks for being concerned for us. We are making plans now to Evac as soon as they say where he's heading. The hurricane will enter the gulf waters late tonight and more than likely by night fall Sunday we'll know more on where he is heading. As it stands now he's nearing a CAT 5 too much power to suite me this round.even with a high 4 there's not much difference between the winds and surge.. I've already lived thu 4 Major hurricanes, Camille(1969), Fredrick (1979) Ivan ( 2004)and Katrina( 2005) all these were Cat 4's ( High 3's).. As I'm older now, I'm over the "thrill" of a hurricane. I'm heading out within the hour to get what we can and I'll fill the propane tanks Sunday. |

I live in Plaquemines Parish (first parish hit by Katrina), about 10 minutes East of New Orleans. They say that if it hits directly to the West it'll push about 15 feet of water into my town. I have a house trailer that's 3 feet off of the ground, so any more water then that and I'll be homeless. DD, the dog, and I evacuated to my sister's in Lafayette, LA. At least here we won't have to fight to try to get out. She lives right near the college and I-10. Won't take long to evacuate from here. We made it fine through Katrina (same house trailer). We only had one broken window and had to seriously clean out the fridge (even though we emptied it out mostly, can I say "EWWW!!!"). Don't think I'll be as lucky this time. And to boot, my job that I LOVE (I'm a massage therapist) is a two minute walk from my trailer. So if the trailer goes so does my work. So depressed right now... Did have lots of hope and am still trying to be upbeat for my DD, but it's so hard! I just want to go home now, but I don't think I'll ever see it again.

| I am freaking out because we had a tree thru our house in Katrina. The worst part is I work in a hospital, and they are going to try and call me in and make me stay at the hospital. I just can't leave my baby with my daughters, without me here. I also can't see taking the baby to the hospital with me, because he is almost 2, into everything, and doesn't sleep anywhere but his bed. I can't have him running around a nasty hospital. I am really tripping. Also if it heads here I will trip, because we live way out in the county, we have 2 dead trees left from Katrina behind our house, and I am by myself!!! Me and my children!! Lordy, I am tripping. Yall all pray for us!!

Can you just not answer the phone when they call? I understand they need people at the hospital, but honestly if a storm as nasty as this comes through, you are needed more at home with your kids. My DH sometimes gets mandated to work, so if we have important plans, he just does not answer when they call. If they can't reach him, he doesnt have to go in. He doesnt work at a hospital though |

| I doubt it works that way where she is. Here when a hurricane is coming and you work in the emergency field whether or not it be a hospital/ police/ or EMT you HAVE to report to work or lose your job. This is why they have offered her to bring her family with her. Here they have a shelter just for these people and their families to stay in, because their spouse has to be on call . I might be wrong since I don't know this for a fact, But if she lived here and didn't answer her phone when called she would be looking for employment after. |

I used to work at the refinery here. If you didn't answer the phone, you were fired. No questions asked. And if you didn't show back up as soon as the announcement was made that you were allowed back in the Parish, you were questioned and then in serious trouble (probably fired).

| Hey yall!! I am at work and fired up!! They called me around 10 pm and said we had a case, so here I sit. Hopefully this will be the only one though and then I am hauling butt home. So far we are just getting rain. All of my neighbors boarded up their windows, so of course I feel like I have the bullseye on mine!! The streets were like a ghost town coming in, it was eerie. About being on call, yes, in the medical field whem you are called you are to be there, period. I would be fired immediatly if I didn't answer. But I am having faith that I will only have this one case and get back home. It's sweet of all of you to be concerned!! I really feel bad for the poor people in Louisiana, they have paid enough. I will try and post again when I get back home if we have power!!! Prayers to everyone!!

It's still going to be pretty nasty-we have been watching all morning on tv and I am just holding my breath. Sounds like one levy is about to break, and all the oil platforms have been abandoned. While I am not predicting doomsday, I think, "Here we go again." I am glad that there were so many plans in place to evacuate a lot of ppl. I feel so bad for those ppl in the city that have finally been able to get it together after Katrina, and then it might just happen all over again. Not to be crass, but go fill up your gas tanks today. I think prices will go up significantly tomorrow.

I'm watching the news and am nauseous. We had a huge storm back in December here, not a hurricane by any means, but a huge wind storm, and what I am seeing on tv right now is what we had. Right now, it is similar to what we went through. We don't have the flooding - that happened in a different area of the state - an hour away and farthur - but we had the wind. Even 9 months later, there are still blue tarps on many houses from the wind destroying roofs. We were without power for 4 1/2 days. You are all in my thoughts. I feel for you.

Going to be a rocky night here in Arkansas as the first winds and rains reach us (Little Rock) in the next few hours. The news/weather people have warned about the wind gusts and possible tornadoes. Worst part about the whole deal... it's night time. I can handle the stuff during the day when I can have a visual on the cloud color and formations but at night.... I'm thinking I'll probably stay up and watch weather reports until we get an all clear. God Bless Everyone affected by this hurricane. Stay Safe, X

Well, I still can't go back (no power or water) and it's still raining today (Wednesday). There are tornado warnings and reports of flooding everywhere where we evacuated to. Can't wait to go back home! Thank you for all of the prayers! The support and kind words are much appreciated!

I bought a weather radio so I could go to sleep when the weather is bad and not worry so much. One thing though, if you buy one. Program it for your county! I didnt do that at first and that dumb thing kept going off for every and I do mean every weather situation in the whole state. I finally unplugged it until I had time to program it!
