I am so angry and upset by this.... just sickened to no end! Lord forgive me for saying it..... But, I hope he doesn't make it to trial and waste the taxpayers' money. I can't imagine a monster like that could ever be redeemed, yet I can't help but wonder what circumstances created that monster. It doesn't surprise me at all that it was his own daughter he raped. Most child molestation happens at the hands of a trusted family member or "friend". And he, himself, was probably molested as a child. What sickens and horrifies me is that she was only 8 days old! Him tearing her poor little body and fracturing her tiny skull in the attack, while she screamed in agony, is what makes him a monster worthy of death.

We had a child at my school that this happened to as a baby. The poor kid was physically never the same. He had to wear a colostomy type bag and had accidents on a regular basis even as an older child. He was literally torn apart inside as a baby, and it was his father too!

Cases like this make me wonder how people can be against the death penalty. I dont care if he has mental issues. he could of waited and got the baby's 15 yr old mother instead of the baby.
I wish that mother would of grabbed something and took care of him after it happened. I know if that was my child and I walked out of the shower and he hurt her, he would never of made it out of the house alive.

The other prisoners in jail will probably take care of this, even prisoners have some morals, especially regarding child abuse. I didn't read the story, but I have been there in the fact that I used to investigate child abuse and neglect when I lived in Virginia. It is amazing what people will do to children! His stay in jail/prison won't be a pleasant one.

Anyone who does something like this must be sick beyond words. He does need to be put in prison but he also needs some big-time help and never should be let back out into society.

Nope, They always put people who are in high risk of getting killed in jail due to these kinds of crimes in special jails in solitary confinement so they never have any contact with other cell mates.
He will serve a pleasant jail term without the herassment and pressure other inmates have to deal with in prison and because of his age and the fact that the baby survived he probably won't even get a long prison sentence.

He was probably on a combination of all kinds of bad drugs that can extremely alter a persons moral being.
If he was rehabilitated he might have grown up to be a decent person as hes still young,but hes ruined in his life now with what hes done.Not many could ever forgive him for what hes done.

He might be in isolation and kept away from other prisoners now, but that won't last forever. There are not enough cells available for every child rapist. Unfortuantely child rape happens everyday and he will eventually have to serve his time with the general population at some point, where he will probalby be raped and beaten himself. If he is does truely have "real" mental health issues then he will serve his time in a mental health lock up facility.

I know, I could not believe when I did a google search on this case how many baby raped and killed cases by parents came up.And a lot of them were worse than this one!
I go to the store and see all these young children,running around ,yelling and screaming,badmouthing and just acting completely crazy and I can't help but wonder what these kids are going to turn into when they get older.And there are so many of them these days.It seems like 75% of the kids I see in public act like they have a severe case of ADD.
Either that or they are just possessed with evil.

There is no rehabilitating a predator of this type. He should be locked up for life at the very least (just thank your God that he was 18 and this will be tried in "adult" court--you'd be FLOORED at the number of Juvenile Sexual Offenders who go to "kiddie" court, and their records are sealed--and can't be used against them in the future. OH, and Juveniles, once they complete their juvenile sentence (be it treatment or juvenile lock up) do NOT have to register as sexual offenders.)

Actually--I worked in a Juvenile Sexual Offender In-Patient facility. That was their "punishment" for their behaviour/actions--getting sent to a privately ran facility for rehabiliatation. And yes, I saw worse--if you'd like to hear the cases that were worse, feel free to PM me. This is a family board, and I will not post the details. I still have nightmares about a couple of the "residents" that I worked with--and this has been 10 years ago.

The name of the facility was/is Piney Ridge Center in Fayetteville, AR. They also run a larger program in Waynesville, MO.

Every time I read or hear a story about a rape or sexual assault or crime like that happening in various parts of Arkansas--I always wonder if it is one of the former residents. Because, you can not rehabiliatate a predator.

I'm sorry deddlast that my life experiences, knowledge and intelligence apparently bothers you. Why not just ignore me? Why be snarky and spiteful? If you're going to use something I posted "against me" at least get it correct and in context--I posted on the election board about not being naive(after being called directly naive), that I had seen more in a day than some would ever see. And either by circumstances, poor choices on my part, jobs I have held--I have seen some pretty horrific stuff. Also seen some pretty neat stuff. I didn't say I knew more, or had more experience--just that I had seen more.

If reading my posts make you feel INFERIOUR why do you keep reading them? You obviously don't care for or about me. I do appreciate your recommendation to seek therapy (I'm in therapy already, thanks--damn me for making a bad choice in husbands!) Funny...I don't feel superior to anyone. I actually have (and if HIPAA laws would allow it you could confirm with my therapist) self esteem issues.

I finally did read the story, actually I read it before my last post. I have seen worse, unfortunately. I know it is bad, but when you work/or have worked in this field you do get desensitized to the situations. This guy at least did not use any inantimate objects to rape the child with so maybe the surgery/ies won't have to be as extensive as if that had happened. The recidivism rate is high for child sexual abuse offenders, the success of treatment is very rare, treatment just doesn't work for child sexual abusers. When I was doing investigations we worked with the Youth Bureau Detectives and we investigated, testified, sent them to jail and got help for the families remaining at home/foster care/whatever the situation. When I investigated, I only investigated adults or babysitters (usually not juveniles). The only experience I have working with juvenile sexual offenders was when I worked as a counselor with teenage gang members and there was some rapists, but not a huge amount, I worked more with violent offenders and anger management type issues. We got the gang members into residential treatment at our facility after they had served their sentence for the crimes they had committed. I did come into contact with a few juvenile sex offenders when I worked on a juvenile psychiatric evaluation unit, though.

Although I do not always agree with what MarilynK says (in other posts, not this one) , MarilynK it appears would be the expert dealing with juvenile sex offenders. I have read her posts in the past and I do not feel she is making anything up. Everyone has to make their own decision on who/what to believe on a message board. But I know she has posted about having worked in a sexual offender treatment program before.

Sometimes it is learned behaviour. For example: had a boy, who's father was also his grandfather. The 'family' were very close, and didn't care who they had sex with. That poor kid didn't know anything any different.

But so much of the time; it was because the boys were socio/psychopaths. They honest to God didn't have a conscience and didn't care who they hurt--as long as they didn't get caught.

Occasionally, you have individuals that have a diagnosable medical issue/mental illness that can be helped by psych meds.

Don't think for even one second that some prison guards don't do the same things to inmates that inmates do to one another.
Its also amazing the number of "accidents" that he could have when it's just him and a guard together. Funny how that happens.

I really do not understand how people can do this. I've heard many times that rape is a crime about control/power/fear not sex, so why on earth would someone need to rape a newborn to have control/power over it? Sick.

What about the father on Dr Phil that slid his infant daughter on him while they were in the bathtub. Mom was sitting right there too. #@^*&#. I'll never forget that story.
