Has anyone here done the Dave Ramsey financial course??

What are the highlights? What 3 things did you take from it that made sense to you and works? I would just like any opinions, tips, etc. you're willing to share.

TIA!

Melissa

I have never done the financial course but I do listen to him on the radio. I have liestened to him for over 10 years infact when I first lived in Tn. I would truly say he knows what he is talking about but at the same time he has gotten a bit pompous in his old age. If anyone calls and tell him what they have, he seems to have more. I guess I would be pompous too if listened to people who don't listen for years. The one think that I have never understood and he never talks about is that when he was into real estate and he had to go bankrupt. He went bankrupt on 4 million dollars. Well, now he is on his feet. Has he ever paid the gov. back from that or did he start over a little smarter and our taxes paid for it?

I never took the course but I have read his website and watched the tv show. I also really the "Women in Red" MSN website. Both sites had some great advice. I plugged steadily along to pay off those credit cards etc and well now I'm debt free
I went on "stravation months" where I only put money out for food, the basic needs, and the monthly bills. Anything else went directly into savings. I also worked part time. I also transferred credit card balances to a lower 0% rate or a promo rate like 2.99% for the life of the balance etc. Some say this messes with your credit score. I'm not really sure. I know mine is over 800. So I don't think it affected me too much. I guess it all depends on your financial situation...the best advice I have for you is to have patience and be dedicated to paying it off.

I, too, have transferred everything to a 0% interest card for 12 months, and have a small balance on a 2.99% for the life of the loan, and I don't think it messes with your credit score either, mine is 796. Anyways, my husband and I have excellent credit, his FICO score is way higher than mine, but I want out of debt!!! I hate when I think of what goes out every month with student loans, medical bills, credit cards, etc. I want to be just down to a mortgage and utilities. I need patience and disicipline!!!!! I will check out Women in Red. Thanks!
