Our 15yr. old has to leave the house by 7:10am to walk to school. Luckily, he does not have to rely on a school bus as our house is right across the street from the high school. DH wakes him up and occasionally drives him across the street. I rarely get up w/ him, unless there is a special occasion, or if he requests a special breakfast. DH is so unbalanced w/ his work hours-he leaves the house anytime btwn 5am and 7:30 am. My alarm clock rings at 7:15am, and I usually hit the snooze button once. I usually don't have much trouble waking the two youngest boys-they are up and dressed faster than I can get breakfast on the table. I make sure they are out the door and at the busstop (my neighbor's house) at exactly 8am. So far, so good this year with getting everyone out of bed!

We are all up around 6:30 here. Both DDs get up to their own alarms and really get themselves completely ready for school. (ages 13 and 9) Hooray! I've made it! I'm around for the "do you have..., did I sign..., are you REALLY still going to wear flip-flops in Minnesota in October?" line of questioning. They're gone by 7:45 and I'm out the door shortly after 8:00. (DH works shifts, so he's either gone by 4:45 a.m. or still sound asleep!) What a great thread idea, OP! I'm doing the happy dance realizing how far we've come! |

DH and I get up at 6:30am. He is normally already awake when my alarm goes off. DS1 gets up at 7am and DS2 gets up at 6:45am. We live across the road from the school so it only takes a minute for them to get there. Although DS1 drives to school and goes in to McDonalds every morning and then to pick up his girlfriend. DS1 wouldn't wake up if a jackhammer was going off next to him. It's a pain every morning to get him up. DS2 will roll right out if I give him about 5 minutes to gather himself. |

Aol featured an alarm clock a while back that after you hit the snooze once and don't turn it off it "jumps" off the bureau and "hides" and progressively gets louder and keeps moving around the room til you find it and shut it up. I think It was about $40.00

My dh gets up around 4am. He leaves for work at 5:45am and I get up at 6:30. He calls me at 7am to make sure I'm awake. I wake up my 11 and 12 year old at around 6:45 and tell them they have 15 more min. My alarm clock is my three cats that always seem to wake me up at the same time every day. My dh is just the back up. lol

| Everyone around here gets up at 5:30 Am. ( 4 kids Dh and I ). 3 of the kids have to be out the door no later than 7:07 ( Bus comes between 7:09-7:10 ). 4th child has to be out the door by 7:15 Dh leaves for work at 8:00 All the kids bedtime is at 7 Pm. well 12 yo seems to think she doesn't have to go to bed at that time and will get back up to read if we make her go to bed. I have already told her, 1st time you miss the bus or your grades start to fail, you'll be in the bed at 7 Pm like it or not, So far she has kept on the grades and hasn't missed the bus. I can't for the life of me go back to sleep once everyone is gone, So strange too, 1 would think quiet house, no kids , peaceful sleep but I can't do it. |

Around 6 here. DH leaves around 6:30 this time of year. DD gets on the bus around 7:10. I wake DS up when DD leaves and his bus comes at 8:10-8:13. I babysit and, depending on the day, my first kid can get here anywhere from 6:20 to 7:30ish. |

I'm up by 6. DS2 - up at 6:15. DD up at 6:50, DS1 up at 7:15. The boys leave at 7:40, dd gets on the bus at 7:50. I am the alarm clock. I usually start waking up around 5:45, but have the alarm set as back-up just in case. I work as a merchandiser a few days a week, and am out the door the same time as dd on those days. When I'm home, I don't go back to sleep. DH's hours vary, He gets himself up. |

icansavedaily--I looked at a clock that may be what you are describing! It is called Clocky. My fear is that I will end up being a maniac chasing it around my son's room while he sleeps on! I really need one that will just annoy the heck out of him. Maybe one that sends random texts to his friends till he gets up. Interesting texts like "I collect dolls" or "My footie pajamas are so cozy." |

I've always woke both of our boys up, until this year. (they are 14 and 16) They have alarm clocks that they now have to get up with and I'm just there to make sure they do! Youngest DS gets up to shower at 6:00 and then 6:15 for oldest DS. Oldest DS drives to school, so they leave at 7:05-7:10. |

I get up at 5:30. My SO gets up about 6:10. I leave for work at 6:40.

DH gets up at 5:30. We are like sewhandy. Both DDs get themselves up and ready by themselves and they have for about 4 years. They are 12 & 14. They both wanted their own clocks for Christmas one year so we got them clocks that play the radio or a CD. They love them. Anyway, oldest DD gets up at 5:45, youngest at 6AM (I think). I get up at 6:10. I will make breakfast for them if they are running late and ask (which is very rare), but they get their own breakfast, too. Everyone likes different things and I gave up on it. I will make breakfast on the weekends. We leave at 7AM and I take them both to school. Then I go to Jazzercise and come home and get ready after everyone's gone. Lisa

My alarm is set for 4:50am. I get up first and shower, then dh gets up and showers. I have to go first otherwise I feel like I'm falling behind trying to get everyone up, fed, dressed and out the door. I get the girls up at 6am, and let them wake up for a few minutes. Then they get dressed and are eating breakfast by 6:30, teeth brushed by 7 and out the door to head to the bus stop by 7:10.

I'm a bit jealous. I have to get up at 3am Mon-Fri, have to be at work at 4am. I have it down to a science: Alarm goes off at 3am. Hit snooze, crawl out of bed at 3:09. Go directly to the bathroom and crawl into the shower, all dressed/groomed by 3:30. Head to the kitchen and feed/water cats if necessary and head out the door. I cannot eat breakfast that early, luckily first break is at 6ish, perfect time to eat. It sucks a little but the up side is I'm out of work at 12:30 pm and I don't have to work nights or weekends!

I am usually up by 5:30, so I can squeeze in a little exercise. If I don't get called into sub, I sometimes will sleep until 6:20. I usually wake up my daughter for school by 6:30. My dh works midnight to 7 am, so we are on different sleep schedules. He usually goes to the gym after work and is home and in bed by 10:30 am, and I usally wake him at about 4:30 pm.

My husband sets the clock for 5:30 and leaves at 6:20am I get up at 6:25 and then wake my daughter up at 6:35am. (I know it is going to be harder for BOTH of us to get up once it gets colder!!) We leave the house around 7:10am to get to school on time. (Needless to say NO clocks are set on Saturday and we sleep until we get up!!) Sunday the alarm is set for 7:40 so we have enough time to get ready for church.

I was thinking the same thing, and I glanced up to see where you were from...I suspect that "cold" in Georgia and "cold" in northern Minnesota may be two seperate concepts. Sometimes I wonder if we stay in this state in the winter because our brains have frozen? ![]() Maybe the thermometer doesn't really matter, "cold" may just be a universal state of mind... |
