Both my kids are in elementary. Thier tardy bell rings at 8:00. The bus picks them up ant 6:45am. I think its a bit early but we live in the country. I found out this morning that highschool here starts at 7:45am. I think that is rediculous, especially when they don't get off the bus till 4:30 in the afternoon. This is in lowndes county, GA.

School starts at 8 am and the tardy bell rings at 8:10, son gets pick-up around 7:35am for the bus. School ends at 3pm and he gets off the bus around 3:45pm. His previous elementary school started at 8 am and was released at 2:30pm. I don't know who makes the hours but I am always amazed at the difference in start times and the length of the school day.

Our school starts at 8:25, we get out at 3:15.

Middle School - 7:40 - 2:15 (45 minute lunch break with 4 minutes to get from class to class, 7 periods)
Elementary - 8:40-3:15 (45 minute lunch break with NO other recesses in 5th grade, lower grades have Kindergarten - Third have recesses)

Bus comes at 6:45 for Middle School and 7:55 for Elementary.

Elementary starts at 8:25. Middle starts at 7:20. High School starts at 7:30.

It's crazy to me to have the teens going so early. They are just useless at that time of day! Get the little ones going earlier, since they love to be up at the crack of dawn!

First bell is at 7:55am. They get out at 3pm.

They are supposed to be there by 7:50 and the tardy bell rings at 8. If they don't get to their room and are ready to go by 8 the teacher sends them to office to get a tardy slip.

edited to add they are supposed to get out at 3 but they are always late.

Our high school starts at 7:23 and gets out at 2:33. Not sure who made up that bell schedule!!

Elementary: 8:35-3:40
Middle: 7:45-2:50
High: 7:30-2:35

I live in Pasco County Florida- as far as I know we are the only county in our area that starts as late as we do.

Elementary starts at 9:30 and gets out at 3:40. Middle starts at 8:40 and gets out at 2:50. I'm not sure about high school since we haven't been there yet.
I have no idea why our schools start so late. At least now that both of my kids are in middle-it's a little earlier- I don't know how people that have to be at work dealt with elementary starting so late.

I sub at the local High School. The hours are 7:45 to 2:13. The lunch break is only 20 minutes. Not long enough...
The middle school is basically the same with a five minute difference. Elementary school runs 9:00 to 3:00.

One elementary school starts at 7:50
DS #2 elementary school starts at 7:25
Middle School starts at 8:00
and our High school starts at 8:45

I hate the schedule. I used to go to school at 8:00 for elementary and get out at 2:45. We don't get home til after 4 and that doesn't leave a lot of time for dinner, playtime,homework,reading, chores,kids activities and family time before the 7:00 showers and 8:00 bedtime

Thank goodness I don't have to drive there anymore lol - dd is a senior this year and can drive herself.

Elementary/middle schools in our neighborhood start around 8:15-8:30am, not sure why the high school is so much earlier!

We have the same exact elementary school schedule, but unlike you, I love it. It gives us just enough time in the morning to sleep as late as 7:00 or 7:30, eat breakfast, get out of the house in a relaxed manner, and enough time in the evening to do everything you mentioned above (including up to bed at 8:00, with lights out at 8:30).

I'm dreading middle school next year with a 6:30 am bus pickup.

Elementary 8:33 - 3:05
Jr. high 8:33 - 3:10

Classes start at 8am for all grades, K-12 (and all the grades are in one school which makes it very convenient!). My girls get picked up at 7:15 in the morning (we live in the country also) and school gets out at 2:35. Then they go to the after school program until dh or I picks them up, which is anywhere from 4:30-5:15.

My kids, in elementary school, start at 7:15 and are considered late after 7:25. They get out at 2:15. EARLY mornings are not fun, lol!

Way back when, I started school at 9:00 and school ended at 3:00.

I would prefer that school started and ended later.

My feelings are Elem should start at 7:35 and HS at 8:55. Given the way these kids sleep it would make alot more sense to me.

oldest is in high school he has to be there at 7, late at 7:11 my 2 other school aged boys have to be there by 8:10 and late at 8:15. Just me and the 3 year old this year home alone!

Our Elementary starts at 9:00 and our Middle School at 7:40.
I like Middle school getting out first, because when there is a half day, my DD is here to watch my DS. I work at an elementary school and we have the same schedule. (different one than my DS goes to)

Elementary here starts at 8:20 and ends at 2;45. There are no buses. I know the middle and high schools are slightly longer.

Elementary school -- 8:30-2:55
Middle School -- 8:30-3:12
High School -- 8:30 - 2:55

Middle school is later because all the buses meet there from the elementary schools and high school and the students transfer to their buses home...THEN they let the hormone-ravaged middle-schoolers out!

We just moved to the DC area and my daughter must be in her homeroom between 7:50-8am School is out at 3pm
In Gwinnett County Georgia she had to be at school at 7:55am and school was out at 2:50pm. I know in Gwinnett County the high school bus would come by at 6:30 and drop the children off at 2:30pm. Middle school bus was 8:30 and would drop off at 4:30. Elementary bus was 7:35 and drop off 3:15pm.

Elem is 7:50-2:45 except for Wed. which is 8:20-2:45
Middle School 7:45-3:08 except for Wed which is 8:15-3:08

We have teacher meetings one Wed. mornings and classes start 1/2 hour later. That is a huge pain in the rear for those parents who have to be to work by a certain time and have set schedules. If it snows then the two hour delay gets scooted back to the regular schedule. No bus for middle schooler (my choice) and DS only rides bus home because he is the first stop at 2:46.

DS- Elem 1st grade- same bus time but starts school at 9:20- out at 3:30 and home same time. they ride the same bus 2 different schools. they drop my dd at her school first then drops ds off at his school.

DD intermediate school (grades 3-4-5) starts at 7:30 - they get free breakfast in their classroom and I believe teaching begins at 7:45. They get out at 2:50 except on Wed when they get out at 2:05 so teachers can work onlesson plans and meetings. We are out of district so we can't ride the bus but I think it runs really late beacuse it picks up from several schools before it takes them on to their home route. DD's only complaint is the 15 minute recess - she would prefer closer to an hour

my ds goes from 8:30 -2:30 but goes 6 days a week.
My dd goes from 8 -1 but also 6 days a week.

Elementary & Intermediate are 8am-3:15pm - dd in 5th gets bus at 7:10am and gets home about 3:45pm
Middle School is 8:45am-4:00pm
High School is 7:15 -2:30pm - sd gets bus at 6:18am and gets home at 3:00pm

I know that at least part of the reason the times are staggered here is because they use the same buses. When my DH has dropped our highschooler off in the am, he has seen the bus our intermediate school child takes leaving there.
The Intermediate schools used to be 8:45-4:00 but they changed it to match the elementary and combined them on the buses...so the bus 5th grade DD rides has K-6th grade on it...and it's packed like sardines. I drive our kindergartener to/from school, though. They're building a brand new elementary school behind (literally) our house so next year I'll be walking him to school.
I thought I had read somewhere about highschoolers performing better earlier. That would seem odd since they always want to sleep late...but that may be more about staying up late. Getting out at 2:30 probably helps with after school jobs, too.

Even though Middle & High schools start at the same time, the kids ride different buses to school.

My kids elementary school is 7:45 - 2:15pm. The bus picks them up at 7:22am and drops them off at 2:30pm. We live 3 miles from the school have a late bus in the morning. Some kids get picked up before 7am -- way too early for me.
