I think the word distractions is the key here. I don't want to give a time frame but I think 2 hours is a very long time to get ready to get out of the house. Everybody I know for whom this is a "problem" and only you know if it is, does the same thing. They are distracted from the actual getting ready to do other things. My philosophy is What HAS to be done for you to leave the house.... You do those things first...everything else can wait.

It only takes me 45 minutes to get ready in the morning: That includes, letting out the dog, feeding the cat, showering and washing my hair, styling my hair, minimal makeup, dressing, fixing my lunch and I'm out the door. The more time you have, the more time you will take getting ready. When you know you have a time clock to punch, you get your butt out the door on time. |

Lets see....exercise for 30 minutes, it usually takes me a half hour to shower/dress/hair and make-up. Then I try to watch the news, let the dog out, feed the cats and eat breakfast (usually 15 minutes). If I have time I start a load of laundry and pick up the house a bit!

It takes me 20-25 minutes. Quick shower, do my hair-I have short hair so a 1 minute blowdry followed by a brush thru and hairspray is all it takes-throw on my clothes-no deciding on what to wear, one of the great things about having a work uniform-pour some food/water for the cats if they need it, put on my shoes, grab my lunch out of the fridge and I'm out the door. There's no way I can handle doing anything else at 3am. Actually, I'm kinda amazed that I don't accidentally drown myself or something at that early hour, I'm NOT a morning person by any stretch of the imagination. Back when I went to work at a later time, 45 minutes is the most I ever took getting ready. I'd much rather use that time sleeping instead of picking up or whatever. Time enough for household chores when I get home.

Get up, brush teeth, brush hair put on deodorant, put on shoes, grab keys, phone, music (CD's for car) and maybe my jacket and I'm out the door. So maybe 10 -15 minutes. I shower when I get home from work. Don't have to worry about what clothes to wear since I have a uniform to wear.

If I only have to get ME out of the door: if I wash my hair ( I wash it every other day), it takes me 20 min or so. Shower, light makeup, eat quick bowl of oatmeal, do hair (let it air dry mostly then dry before I leave). Not washing hair I can shave 5 min or more off that time so about 15 min. I just have to flat iron my hair (3 min or so for that). If I have to get the kids out the door (school days), we get up at 7 and are all ready about 7:45. We don't leave the house until 8:15 but I like to have that extra time to check email, get some work done, visit here, etc. I work from home so checking email, etc isn't something I *must* do before I leave (since I'm coming back after taking the kids to school) My aunt takes 1.5 hours to get ready and it drives me nuts. I can call at 9 and say "hey, do you want to go have breakfast or go to Costco" and she won't be ready and she'll tell me to come on by in 2 hours. Uh, I wanted to go NOW...not in 2 hours.

Five minnutes if I had my way :-) With all four kids in tow about 45 min... I don't wear makeup, I shower at night, I pick out my cloths and the kids cloths at night, and if I am good I manage to put anything I need for the next day (diaper bag, school bags etc) in the car the night before. I HATE being late ;-P |
