I have this thing, where I feel that sometimes people just say out of habit, "how are you?" without really expecting an answer. So when people ask me, I really throw them off guard when I really tell them HOW I AM DOING! LOL Another thing, is when I am asked that (usually as this person is running by on their way), and I say.."doing good, how are you?" and I am saying it to their backs, and very rarely do you hear a reply. . I really do want to know.. or I wouldn't have asked in return! It's almost like this has become a salutation and a closing statement, with no reason for answer to either. LOL

I have the same problem at the checkout when cashiers habitually ask the "How are you?" I either freeze up or sputter out "How are you?" back.Depending on the cashiers enthusiasm I'm sometimes " o.k. ",or "Good ! ". If they just mumble it out quickly like they've said it for only the 500th time that that day, lol, I usually pretend I didn't hear them. I'm more of a reserved person and would just rather pay for my stuff and go then get into a conversion about How I'm doing. |

| When I am having a bad day, "How are you" can bring me to tears - because you know no one really cares anyway and if you told them the truth, they'd want to cry too! When someone asks what I've been up too, the same thing happens , I freeze - I can't think of anything worthwhile to say other that laundry, diapers and cleaning toilets or something!!!! You know what else happens to me? I have this introduction anxiety or something that causes me to forget peoples names. When I have to introduce my husband to someone I've known for a while from school or a former job - I completely forget their name. I have even forgotten my husbands name. I don't know WHAT my problem is... |
