| International calls on cell phone
Do any of you do this? My daughter is in college in U.s., and I'm in Germany. I'd like a plan where we can stay in touch. Land lines are hard since she's on the go, and I still have younger ones here at home. What plan do you use?

I use my cell to call England a lot. I use pingo. I dial the toll free number or the access number that I have stored in my cell and then have it set up that I can just enter the number that I am dialing in England. It connects me and then it just uses my minutes from my cell plus the small per minute charge from pingo. This is a lot more economical than using the cell phones plan. i have my pingo account set up to automatically recharge from my charge card. i think that you can even get an access number from Germany to call to the US.

Can you buy international caling cards in Germany? My daughter bought international calling cards in the US to call my grandson in Japan and also to call his girlfriend before they were married who was in Russia at the time. The cards she bought gave lots of minutes for only $5

We are in Germany too. We brought our Vonage with us. As long as you are calling a USA cell phone there are no additional charges. However if you are calling a German cell it is 0.31 a minute. We had the international package added on to the Vonage so we can call German land lines for free too.
