My kids and I had a lot of fun with this a couple of weeks ago. It does actually work, but you have to blow fairly hard. A few times we got a really loud high-pitched whistle out of the egg and the kids loved that. I didn't do the baking soda bit, though, I'll have to add that next time and see if it really makes a difference. Maureen |

I dunno....doesn't seem that gross to me....I rinse hard boiled eggs after peeling anyways. Actually kinda neat - I have a couple in the fridge and think I'll try it. cj/

I'll have to try the baking soda thing. I wonder if I have the lung power to do this! It looks like fun. Have any of you ever done the raw egg in vinegar for a few days? Be sure to store in a jar with lid. After the egg 'does it's thing', put it in corn syrup for a few days. And then, to top it off, put it in water with food coloring in it for a few days... This was my son's science fair experiment one year -- cell osmosis. |

I saw this a few weeks ago. My first thought was exactly what dollydeal said, "ewww", but then I couldn't stop thinking about it. I had to try it. I boiled 3 eggs, my first egg I couldn't get it to work, second egg worked, but you need a lot of lung power. The third egg I just peeled like I usually do. The baking soda seemed to make the peeling easier, no need to spew your germs all over everyone's eggs. Just my opinion.
