What is your favorite splurge?

We're here because we like a bargain...and times have gotten pretty tight with rising prices everywhere, but I'm sure we all still splurge on SOMETHING.

From the double-mocha-latte to a massage to a night at the Ritz-Carlton, what's your favorite splurge(s)?

I would have to say candles. I love scented candles. I love Yankee, Old Virginia and Colonial at home candles. I do try to get them at a good price. I never pay full price. I would say my other splurge would be making sure my dh and I get a night away at least twice a year. Even if its just a local bed and breakfast. We make sure we go...

Downloading a movie to Tivo every once in awhile from Amazon.com.
Fairly reasonable price, cheaper than going out to the movies. And best of all you don't have to leave the house to return it.

Hair products. I love my expensive shampoo and conditioner. I've tried the bargain brands, but nothing seems to work better than my pricey brand.

Socks.

I mean it - I was wearing athletic white tube socks and calf socks for about 2 decades straight - I owned one pair of black socks.

Then I suddenly became interested in cute socks, comfy socks, higher end socks, etc.

Really good coffee and a nice cianti are also important as little indulgences!

For me it would have to be my Starbucks, three pump, non-fat, with whip, extra hot mocha. Back in the "day" I would get one a day. Maybe that's why we're so broke now....I have drastically cut back. I might have one a week anymore.

My splurge would be Atlanta Bread Company breakfast bagel. Asigio bagel, provolone cheese, bacon and egg and a vanilla nut coffee. If I want to throw my self over the top then I thrown in an Austrian pretzel. My breakfast bill will be $6.50 but it sure is good!

Yarn. yea, i know, i am a drag but i dearly love pretty fun yarns to make afghans for my clients with. I probably have enough yard now to make 4-5 thousand lap afghans, but I cant stop buying more when I see fun new yarns.

Id have to say new household cleaning products- new sprays or foams, brushes, steamers etc. -this also goes with bath soaps

You would think my house would be meticulous, but its not. Its clean though!

It doesnt sound like a splurge, but it feels like one to me- to get a grilled chicken salad and a diet coke at mcdonalds every now and then!

My small splurge is good Italian bread or Polish rye bread at ethnic bakeries...I won't eat any store bread.

The splurge that I stopped since I retired from work was Coach bags, wallets and wristlets. Happily I did notice that I have enough of all three to last my lifetime so I don't have to buy anymore.

The large splurge is that DH and I eat at one of the best restaurants in a neighboring area one Saturday night a month.

Marilyn, how many tattoos do you have?? I only have two...so far.

My splurges are:

Perfume
Yankee Candles
Shoes (I've lost count on how many pairs I have)
Cashmere sweaters

I've never spent much on purses but I'm thinking of "investing" in a nice Coach bag soon.

Ok I must add tattoos. Have 4 (one is two different tattoos making 5) and 2 were done in the last two months and I am going to get another one in a few weeks.

Also now say Victoria Secrets bras. I have never spent over $8 on a bra before today and I paid $48 for one. And bad thing is I like it so that will have to be part of my splurges now. LOL

My favorite splurge is ice cream - anything with lots of chocolate or mint chocolate chip. My other spulrge is to go shopping every once and just buy everything I want and nothing I need. Finally, I love to take my boys and let them buy something that is not thrifty or on sale.....a $100 pair of sneakers or something like that, just because they're worth it; it makes them feel special.
