"How to" Help

DH is remodeling our kitchen but with all of his traveling out of the country for his work, the job has been at a standstill. We are planning on replacing the flooring with laminate wood which we have already purchased. Currently it is linoleum. Well, I noticed that the linoleum was coming up in some spots so checked out underneath it. I found another layer of linoleum. So the original linoleum was covered by a different linoeum. I thought the bottom one looked better than the top, so the kids and I started to pull it all up, figuring at least we would have the bottom linoleum until DH gets to the floor. But, there is a sticky coating on the floor now apparently from the adheasive on the linoleum we just took off.
Does anyone know how to get that off? It feels just awful walking on the floor now! I'm really sorry I pulled it all up now! Any help on how to remove that sticky coating would be VERY appreciated!

Goo Gone will remove anything sticky, but the smell is very strong and you'd have to test to make sure it doesn't actually damage the linoleum underneath.

White vinegar, heated (stove or microwave) should also get it off, but it is much more work, but safe for your floors and your lungs.

Good Luck!

We went through this with our kitchen floor. I tried all kinds of solvents, goo gone, etc. The fumes were horrilbe and the results were not worth the effort. Sorry I don't have an answer for you other than to go ahead and put the new floor down -- make sure the underlayer is smooth so you don't end up with lumps. I put in a new laminate floor in my dd's room by myself-- it wasn't that hard. If you are at all handy, I would say go for it and do the floor while dh is away.

We did laminate on three floor surfaces last summer. It is truly very easy...and I am sure you could put it down yourself. It definately wouldn't be as much work as scrubing the other floor with muliple cleaners.

lighter fluid will work( rub some on a rag and scrub away) but you need the windows and everyone out of the house if its a big area, I had to use this on floor tiles we installed and the glue we used came out inbetween the tiles , it just happend that I
was getting carpet installed and this is what the installers told me, it was a long process.
