is there others who cant get gas?

We are having a terrible gas shortage here and the news people talk like its just around here. I am wondering if other states are out of gas too? The local colleges are closed cause the students cant get gas to come in . The few stores that had some had lines reaching as long as 2 miles to get it and there has been fights at the tanks cause of people cutting in line. They showed one fight where this woman had waited for a hour to get gas and when it was her turn this other woman walked over and started filling up 4 containers. we are in nc. please post the states you are in and if you have gas or not.thanks!
Just wondering if that they say about it just being around here having this problem or is it all over.

The past 2 weekends here have been awful. Last weekend was the worst. My little community had gas until Friday sometime and they were out. I went to every gas station around because I was literally on fumes! Finally went home and knew if it got too bad my dad would find some and bring it in a gas can, LOL. But my friend called at 7:30 Saturday morning and said Krogers had gas. I waited in line 30 minutes but got filled up. The weekend before many stations were out but not in my community, just surrounding areas. As of today, most stations have at least the regular gas, no premium. It's CRAZY!! Gas is anywhere from 3.86-4.25 for regular in my area and surrounding areas.

I live in Oklahoma and we have plenty of gas and it's gotten real cheap, like $3.24 a gallon. However, we live very close to the Texas border so we get alot of Texas news too and the Texas news is reporting alot of gas shortages down there, the news reports on the tv from down there are showing no gas and when there is a little gas the line are looking really long.

Someone flattened my 4 tires so I wont have to fill that car for a while... Ins company said it may take up to 5 days because of the storms before they can assess the damage . I have a rental and its on full but I haven't noticed any runs on the gas stations. I am in Maryland.

I'm in AZ too and we have not had any shortages. My mother is in Atlanta and they are having real problems there. My Dad is in Houston and he said he can't find any premium but was able to get the other.

Just last week we were downtown Nashville, TN and they were completely out of gas. After you got out of town you could find it again but the lines were crazy.

We're not having that problem here though plenty of gas in western kentucky.

It's a VERY serious problem here in metro Atlanta. Luckily I filled up on Sunday morning...$4.29 a gallon and they only had the most expensive gas. Today, they are all out of the high and mid grade...only regular unleaded is available. The lines are around the block...if you are lucky enough to find it. Most stations I've gone by have plastic bags over the pumps...they are totally out of gas. Because of the smog problem here, we are only able to use a certain type of gasoline...the type that the sulpher is burned off. The governor FINALLY got permission for us to use the "dirty gas"...what was he waiting for? He had weeks to do this...idiot. Anyway, it's a real mess down here. No water (restrictions) and no gasoline. Tell me again why the hell I moved here? Oh yeah...DH's job...didn't have a choice in the matter. Oh well, at least the taxes are pretty low. Here's the scoop...with some cornbread on the side... ~Lisa

Seriously,

I did see on the news about Nashville.

I also heard that people were calling AAA BEFORE they ran out of gas to let them know that they were going to be out of gas.

I hope that things get better soon for you all.

I'm in the Charlotte area too. If a gas station has gas, good luck waiting for it. It's crazy-- my dh was just trying to get to work, but the gas stations that had gas were bottle necking the regular traffic. I just wished the media wouldn't hype it so, because everyone gets in"panic" mode- makes things so much worse!

Here's the news article:

We are having a very serious shortage here-- Scott and I made 10 calls last night looking for gas. We finally found a station about 10 miles away.

I went by 4 gas stations this morning, two had no gas prices up (well maybe they had diesel prices) and the other 2 only had prices for regular, one was $4.49 and the one closer to where we live was $4.29.. this last station is where I got premium for my car a couple weeks ago (shoulda put more than $15 in I guess lol) and it was $4.19 for regular then, and $4.09 the day before I noticed no other prices and regular had gone up $.20 overnight...

The news this am showed a line over a mile long of cars following the gas tanker to the stores. some places are getting a little bit but over 90 percent of the stores here has the plastic bags over the gas tanks .

The staton near my house just got a shipment and DH rushed over there. He said he is sitting in a long line but they do have gas (regular only). Its just amazing how bad it is. They say it may get better tomorrow or it may be weeks still. Its very frustrating. I am sure glad I don't have an SUY or a truck. I bet the dealerships are struggling now.

We have the same gas shortage in north Georiga (metro Atlanta). On Saturday night we drove around for almost an hour looking for gas (which of course, wasted gas, but we were getting low and needed it) and once we found a station that had it, we waited about 30 minutes. Yesterday we took DH's car and waited about 20 minutes.

Everyone was for the most part orderly. The gas station attendants were out directing traffic, which helped with everyone waiting their turn and kept the line moving. I heard on the news that the shortage could go on until mid-October.
It is partly because we have 'special' gas in Atlanta during the summer due to the smog (the Governor just allowed us to switch to the winter gas which had a higher surplus right now) and because of where we are located all of our gas comes from the refineries in the Galvaston area and they are not all back up and running at full capacity yet.

Some of our shortage here is artificial -- everyone topping off their tank every time they see a station with gas. If we went about it as usualy -- waiting until we actually needed gas it wouldn't be so bad, but then again, you never know if you'll be able to find it when you run low, so you need to keep at least 1/2 a tank, just in case.

Sarah.........

No gas shortages here.... Kansas. This morning I paid $2.99 gal. with a 10 cent discount. Stations here are ranging from 3.02 to 3.05. Not too bad considering how high it has been.
