Opinions wanted...

I just got home from working at my bazillionth wedding of the year and I just need to ask this question. When you go to a wedding and you are all dressed up, do you take your shoes off and walk around bare foot? If you are in a restaurant having dinner, would you take your shoes off and walk around?

I know this isn't a life shattering situation but, it really bugs the crap out of me. I would never take my shoes off in a restaurant and yet people do it all the time in the banquet room of the restaurant. It is a health issue really (not to mention the broken glass from the drunk people!) you know...no shirt, no shoes, no service.

Just wondered how other people felt, maybe I am over-reacting but I think it is disgusting and so unclassy.

Thanks for letting me vent!!

I guess its hard to dance all those crazy dances at a wedding, in high heels drunk. I personally never take my shoes off at a wedding it is tacky.

Well I guess after they've had a few and in high heels maybe they get a little teeter-tottery and the the shoe removal is for safety reasons.

I work in a state government office, and frequently see co-workers walking around barefoot... Not when they are meeting with the public, but still - I think it just adds to the overall impression of state employees that we have such cushy jobs that we walk around barefoot like hillbillies?

The only place I see women walking around barefoot is at wedding receptions, now that you mention it. I think its from dancing and being in heels for so long.

At the reception, I think it's fine. I do it to dance sometimes as do most of the wedding party. At the dinner beforehand...no, it's tacky to me

After my wedding, I took my heels off and put house slippers on. That way I was confy, sanitized, and nobody could see them anyway, I didn't want to be walking on floors that I was not familiar with....

I was in one wedding and the bride's mom surprised us with satin slippers that matched our dresses at the reception. That was the best since we were all wearing our new heels for the first time.

At a wedding, I would not run around without shoes. When I was a kid, I had a plantar's wart removed from my foot (very painful). With this painful memory, I do not and will not go barefoot in public. Plus, another risk would be getting stuck by glass, nails, or sharp objects. Definitely not worth the risk.

At my friends wedding, we (the bridesmaids) all got matching flip flops to wear after dinner, to dance. I do see alot of women taking their uncomfortable heels off to dance.

I see it all the time. In my younger clubbing days I would take my heels off half way through the evening after a couple hours of dancing with heels they would start to bother me and I would lose the shoes. As did most the people on the dance floor that were up dancing often.
Weddings the same thing. After dinner is done and the dancing starts I see lots of people barefoot.

I went to a wedding last year where all the women in the wedding party wore no shoes! They all walked down the aisle barefoot (oh, except for the mother of the bride who wore pantyhose and no shoes). And no, this wasn't a 'casual' wedding. We're talking tuxs, bridemaid dresses and everything -- just no shoes! And it was indoors.

Very tacky!

My opinion is that at a wedding or anniversary etc it's perfectly fine to remove your shoes after a couple of hours. I have been seeing this since I was a little girl in the 60s and I have NEVER heard anyone say anything negative about it. You get dressed up to look nice often the shoes are uncomfortable it's better to take them off after a few drinks, dances, whatever. I see nothing wrong with it.

When I was in my sisters wedding I had to wear very uncomfortable shoes that were dyed to match my dress. At the reception I did take them off and never wore them again. I did have nylons on though.
