Now that was one classy gentleman. I always thought he was sooo handsome, and a good heart to complete the package. He did so much for charity, stayed married to the same woman for forever. Not many like him left.

I am just so profoundly sad. He is one of our great treasures and will be greatly missed.

This was the first thing I saw as I turned on my computer. How sad, I really loved him. He did live a nice long life and helped so many people.

Oh how sad.
Just sad.

In 1982, Newman and his friend A.E. Hotchner founded Newman's Own, a food company that produced food ranging from pasta sauces to salad dressing to chocolate chip cookies.

"The embarrassing thing is that the salad dressing is outgrossing my films," Newman once wryly noted.

To date, the company -- which donates all profits to charities such as Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang camps -- has given away more than $200 million. Newman established the camp to benefit gravely ill children.
Among his many accomplishments, this must be one of his greatest legacies.

This was the very thing that I thought of when my dh told me he passed away. This is the legacy I will always remember him for. He was a true philanthropist in the very best way.

He will be sorely missed.
