The Perfect Jeans

What's your favorite brand of jeans as far as fit goes? Where do you find them? How much are you willing to pay for them? And because fit is kinda individual, what's your body type...or what body type would you recommend your favorite for?

In search of the perfect jeans....for the apple body (thick middle, no hips, small butt )

For me personally, at the moment it's jeans from Old Navy. I'm extremely short (4'11') and Old Navy has their jeans in a large variety of sizes and lengths as well as rises. Not on sale they are $30 a pair.

I just heard on the radio an ad for Lee Perfect Fit jeans sold at Penney's. They will make your legs look slimmer, your butt smaller, your girlfriends will think you've had surgery, and your husband will think you spent a fortune on them.. Sounds like an absolute miracle to me. LOL I might have to go to Penny's and give them a try. Not really, because it's one of those things I don't need right now and I'm on a mission to spend money only on the things we NEED and not want.

My favorites are Gloria Vanderbilt jeans that I get at Kohls. They are not expensive and seem to fit my squatty figure. I'm a tad round from the midriff down to the knees. I prefer to be called fluffy, not fat.

I have such a problem with jeans it's not even funny. They either fit in the waist and are too loose in the legs in the butt or fit perfectly in the legs and butt then way too tight at the waist.

Sigh! I ordered the More box and there is a pair of slimming "Not Your Daughter's Jeans" so I hope those are better.

The brands I have people like are Seven and Lucky.

Old Navy jeans are my favorite too. I bought my favorite pair of jeans for $4.99 on clearance.

I have a huge problem finding jeans to fit me. I ended up finding my favorite pair at a yard sale. I actually bought them for my daughter. They were a pair of girls size 16 (they seem to be about the same as a womens sixe 4/6). They are Lee jeans and fit me great. Of course, I will probably never be able to find another pair, but at least I have that one pair. I get so discouraged because I can't seem to find anything to fit me. I have a tiny waist, but bigger hips. So they are always too big in the waist if I get them to fit me in the hips....

Back about 10 or 12 years ago when I was 'thinner', the only jeans I could tolerate were the Bill Blass jeans. I had a smaller waist, but wide hips. I could only find them at Lazarus and then they stopped carrying them. I got used to the Levi's 550 (I think) and started buying those when they were on sale. I don't wear jeans very often anymore, so I only have a few pair, but they are comfy.

Another Old Navy fan here! My favorites are "The Flirt" and "The Sweetheart" jeans. They seem to last forever, too.

My body type is short (I'm 5'3") with a long waist and short legs. I am built sort of like Shawn Johnson the gymnist only bigger sized When I was a gymnist as a girl, I looked a lot like her body type.

When I was a size 12 about 6 years ago, I loved Old Navy jeans. After I lost weight and went down to an 8, Old Navy didn't fit right anymore Now I like Lee jeans. I get them at Kohls for about $25-$30 a pair. Some styles don't fit and some do. It's not that every pair fits. I also like Ann Taylor Loft jeans but they are $50 a pair. I am a size 8, 150 lbs and normal shaped I guess. I need more room in the thighs so slim cut is out of the question.

WAY before I got married and had kids, I was a size 6 and loved Gap Reverse jeans. They don't make those anymore

I'm a pear

I'm 5'3' with wide hips, and I SWEAR by my PZI jeans. I first found them on the AAFES website on sale, but when they went off sale, I found them on the website PZIJeans.com. They are pretty pricey, but I paid only $40 for them when I got them on AAFES. Right now, you can get them on clearance for around $30 - $40 bucks through the website. The normal price is around $80, but I cannot swing that price. $40 is a stretch for me, but to find the perfect set in my size, inseam, and no gap waistline, it's worth it!

Do you all like the jeans with some stretch in them? I can't decide. I like them to begin wiht...but then they grow the longer I wear them, so that by the end of the day, they're falling off!

Great question, CJ!

I buy Gap jeans or J. Jill jeans, but only on consignment for $10 or $12 dollars. They always fit me right these days (no other consistent luck with other brands) and I like the level of "rise" - low enough, and high enough at the same time, if that makes sense...

I used to live only in Old Navy, but they always left a big gap in the stomach or back area, requiring me to wear a my belt in a very puckered way.

But my body issues are the opposite of yours, CJ, from your description. I have long legs, a small waist, but my jeans need to be "more generous" in the butt/hip area.

I really look for some level of spandex in the jeans. If not, I feel like they're actually too *heavy* - somehow the jeans that include spandex don't seem so thick/weighty.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

I am short and have a small butt, so I find that the petites at Old Navy don't fit me well at all

I like the jeans at New York & Co. - the petite lengths are good and they fit me nicely in the tush while still fitting my stomach (after 3 kids- that's my challenge for fit)

I like the Levi's jeans. They are economically priced, comfortable, and last for years.

I'm a Gap or Old Navy girl for the same reason...variety of lengths...except I go the other direction. I'm 6'0 (without shoes on) - so it is hard to find pants that are long enough.

Count me in the Old Navy gang. I'm 5' 5" with a large stomach, hips and bootier. I wear petitie, low waist, boot cut or flare leg.

Same body type and issues here. I like the stretch ones too - I found a great pair of Old Navy "Curvy" jeans that are only sold online. Solves the puckered belt problem. Oh, and some friends have suggested going down a size in the stretch jeans.

I love my Gap boot cut jeans, but unfortunately when I went to put a pair on this weekend, (haven't worn them in months), they did not fit at all. I dread shopping for new jeans. Maybe I'll hit Old Navy since so many of you like them. I am 5'9", wear a size 12, but have a very flabby stomach and big thighs. It's probably easier for me to quit eating than to find new jeans....
