Adult Halloween costume ideas

My Dh and I have been invited to an adult Halloween party and we have never been to one. I am trying to think of some ideas of what we can dress like. (and how to make it)
I am really not all that creative and can't spend much money on a costume

Last year, our entire family all dressed up as 'black eyed p's'.

It was easy to make. I took large pieces of white flannel and cut out the letter 'p' for each of us. I glued the p's onto long sleeved sweatshirts using Elmer's white glue (washable). Then, we used a black makeup pencil to color a black eye onto our faces.

We were a hit because everyone had to really think about it... we'd get them to say it out loud and then they'd laugh every time they saw us.

The p's came off easily and the glue washed right out of the shirts.

Two friends and I ordered CSI shirts with our school printed on them--also bought CSI hats with our names on the back. We wore them last year to school complete with name tags, evidence bags, and cuffs...kinda cool. This year we have a "Smarter Than A Fifth Grader" behavior party on Wednesday and some of the fifth-grade teachers are going as Teletubbies. I have a green sweat suit (Joe Boxer) that I bought at KMart. I used tin foil and the stick-on felt to make the "tube screen" on my tummy. I used a green head band and pipe cleaner to make the head piece--glued large beige foam ears to the headband--trimmed in green. Not sure how they will look, but the kids will like it!

Last year I dressed up in my mom's ivory wedding dress (very old, stained, and falling apart-not quite a collector's item). I wore my big clunky black ankle boots with fish-laced stockings , piled my hair into a fancy-doo on top of my head, and sprayed it w/ grey, white, and green. For my make-up, I went really white on the face, and a lot of purple and brown under the eyes. Kellyboys mom went as a witch-she looked really cool (but a little too pretty and glamorous for a real witch) in cheap stuff that we found at the local party store. And our DH's went as the Blues Brothers. They just wore their suits, and we bought them sunglasses at the dollar store. And we made them practice the Rawhide song before the party. I must say, we were the hit of the party. Well, except for the Swami that was hired to read all of us. I can't even go there....

We do Mardi Gras every year, and you see some great costumes. One that was really funny was a woman dressed as an egg with about 10 sperm following her! A couple of years ago I had dressed as Thing One for school, so I changed it around a little for Mardi Gras. I still wore the teased blue wig, but my red top said, "Wild Thang One" and I wore a short red skirt (could go black), fish nets, and heels. Your husband could go as the Cat In the Hat!

How creative. And so simple and easy.

I was Pebbles one year! I put red coloring into my hair (which is long), and tied part of my top hair around a big dog bone (the light, fake kind). I bought an old orange shirt, and sewed black patches all over it. I got a lot of compliments!

A couple in my town dressed as Madonna and Michael Jackson = the lady went as MJ, and the guy went as Madonna. I wasn't at that party, but I heard they won best costume!

Was in a goodwill today they had prom/formal dresses for five bucks each! A lot of them were really beautiful and could be worn to prom or at those prices they'd make great costumes!

A couple of years ago, DH and I went to a Halloween Party. He dressed as a police officer and I dressed in all red and wore hearts on me. We were a Cardiac Arrest. It was a hit!

Last year we had neighbors that dressed up as a UPS guy and his wife was a package. I thought it was a real cute idea!

Wink

Let see I have worn so many costumes over the years. I wear it to school, and then to walk around with my family. Me and my dh and our kids have been doing this all their lives, its so much fun. One year I dressed up like Johnny Damon when he was with the red sox, but the beard was so itchy...lol. Then another me and dh switched and dressed up like each other, it was easier for me, but to see my dh in a dress and make up and high heels, I literally ppppp..... my pants. Then another year my dh dressed up like a rap dancer tooooooo funny. Last year I was spongebob, the kids loved it. Another year they made me a clown and my dh blew up balloons so big to put inside the top of my costume, well I do not have to tell you how many neighbors got a real laugh from that. I think if you use your imagination you can truly dress up with things from around the house or like another poster said use the Goodwill store. In fact this year me and my dd;s are all wearing this really ugly left over wedding bridemaids gowns they are a horror color. Imagine the color between yellow, and green mixed we got them and the shoes and the hats they are huge for 15 dollars each. Peace. CAtherine

Cute site, I like the Martini Costume. I bought my costume at Rite Aid today, 33% off so it was $16.00. I didn't think that was to bad. We go to a party thrown by the owners of a hair salon every year(Ron Paul Salon). They throw the biggest party, it is unbelievable!
