How do you do it?

Ok, in my Halloween thread, there were some talking about getting candy free with coupons, etc.

WHERE DO YOU FIND THEM????

We have NO stores that double around here and I've never seen coupons like that before. I would love to get more savings in my grocery bill but I seriously don't know how you all do it.

Can someone help me? Thanks!

No stores around here double, except the recent doubling at K-Mart which I totally stayed away from.

There was a $1 Hershey coupon that expired 09/30 - the fun size 8 pkgs of various Hershey products were $1 at K-Mart, hence all the free candy.

The Pop-Tarts were free from a deal at Target with Fuel for School coupons and you also got a $5 GC when you bought 3 or 4 - I can't remember. I have, literally, over 100 boxes of PopTarts and these are the large 12 pkg boxes. So all my Halloween visitors are getting PopTarts this year.

Check out the coupon boards and you will learn how to put the deals together with the coupons. It takes time and effort.

Safeway has double coupons in their flyer at least once a month.

Use your Sunday supplements and coupons from magazines. You might try starting a coupon exchange with your friends or do what I did and put one on Craigslist to meet other ladies in the community who want to trade coupons and money saving tips. I don't have kids in school you might try starting one with school Moms.

We have WinCo here it's a really cheap store where they just cut the front of the case out and put the box on the shelf and you bag yourself. The prices there are often half what they are at other stores very good candy prices less than $2 a bag for name brand candy.

Nobody here in NO. California takes doubles anymore--not for at least the last 3 years.

We never have doubles here in Washington either. BUT if you're vigilant you can still get free stuff. I picked up 8 free SoBe Lifewaters tonight at Walgreen's and tomorrow I'm going to go get more.

Think other than traditional candy. I've given Kool Aid, pudding, popcorn, stickers, other things I've gotten free that kids would enjoy.

Had a friend that gave free toothbrushes but I won't do that on Halloween !

Think outside the box and not necessarily give candy. Or another option is to buy clearance candy after Easter and freeze it for Halloween.

No Dollar Tree does not take coupons.

There are printable coupons if your store takes printables.
I printed a Nestles $1 coupon recently.

I ended up buying some candy at Walmart, it was $2.00 & $1.92 a bag for the Fun Size bags. I had 2 coupons for $1.00 off 2 bags. I ended up buying 4 bags (2 coupons) of M&M's, Peanut M&M's, Snickers and Skittles, the Fun Size packages, a total of 72 packages and it was $5.92 before tax. No double coupons. I also have stickers to hand out. Not the best deal, but I thought it was quite reasonable.

As far as my grocery shopping, I am lucky there, I have two stores that double, one doubles $1 coupons and the other doubles .50 coupons. Between the two of them, I get quite a bit of food and HBA items free. My only other grocery store is Walmart.

This is not how to get deals for Halloween, but when the Halloween candy goes on clearance, buy it then and put it away for Christmas stockings, baking, etc. I do this every year and I get it cheap that way. I have 4 kids so this saves me a lot. I don't buy the candy with Halloween stuff on it to put away for Christmas, but plenty of it doesn't have anything at all on it. Also, a lot of the Halloween goodies now have pretzels, snacks, etc. in small packages. i will buy it on clearance in great quantities and my kids have snacks for school, lunches, etc. for a long time then. Cheap. I don't mind that they are taking Halloween snacks in their lunch as Christmas, etc. HTH.
