| Target Job?
I was wondering if anyone new the target job process. I know they have stockers who start at 4am, I believe. Do you have the same shift, different shift? Is it different for different people? I'm a stay at home mom and would like a little extra cash and was thinking if I could start at 4am and work, it wouldn't seen like I was gone that long. Anybody with any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I've thought about this as well. I called last week LOL Ours start stocking at 10 PM and are usually done by 7 AM. Now that's full time mind you so I guess you could kind of "make" your hours if the manager was open to it. It was $9.00 per hour full time here, with benefits after 90 days. I would have to work the 10 PM until ? shift though because my husband leaves for work at 6:30 AM. I haven't decided yet what to do. I'm worried I'd spend all my money there! LOL Amy |

Wow. I didn't realize that they have an overnight shift. That would seem to work well for someone who wants to work while their mate is home to be with the kids. It may be difficult but now it is really only for the three months...so that money wold help pay some heating bills

One thing I've heard about them from the teenagers around here who work there is that other places are flexible to their school schedules, games, homework, etc. and Target is not at all. So if you need any flexibility, you might want to ask about it up front. Lisa

I also work at Target. I find ours very flexible with the schedule. Of course you can't go in one day and tell them, "sorry I have a game tomorrow so I can't work." When you interview you give them your availability and if their business needs meet your availability you might get hired. They do schedule around your availability. During your first 90 days you cannot change it. We have a swap shift board and if something does come up you can post your shift and try to give it away. If no one takes it then you are expected to work. All I can say is go apply, tell them your availability and good luck! I wanted to add that not all stores have an overnight shift. Ours used to but it doesn't any more.

Costco pays better. Wal-Mart is usually very flexible w/ hours. (I know that many on here do not like Wal-Mart Corp. But, Wal-Mart serves a purpose, and they would not be in business if people stopped shopping at their stores. And whether any of you want to believe it or not--WalMart does truly take care of their employees who want to work and want to be active, contributing members of the team.). I believe that the local Wal-Marts start here at about 8.50 to 9.00/hr and overnights do get a shift diff.

I work at Target and our store only has an overnight shift during the 4th quarter which is approx November thru January. It's 10 pm to 6:30 am and you usually get the opportunity for overtime. We also got a .50 an hour shift differential for working overnights, but I'm not sure what the starting wage is but I'm guessing it's around $8.(I'm in Pennsylvania if that makes any difference) I did that shift last year right after I quit electronics(that dept at Chrsitmas time is a unique kind of hell, let me tell 'ya)and it was a lot of hard work but I enjoyed it. You don't have to deal with all the crabby holiday shoppers and there's no traffic on your way to/from work. There's quite a few women/girls on our overnight team along with several senior citizens. If you have trouble lifting heavy things there are still plenty of things you can do such as hanging clothes or stocking things that aren't really heavy such as tree ornaments or dvd's. I'm working overnights again this year and I can't wait. I normally work on the planogram team, 4am-10pm Mon-Fri, we re-set all the displays/aisles in the store but nothing much changes once Christmas set is done until it starts coming down after the holiday so we get the option of working overnight or going to sales floor during the day. I recommend you stop in and apply.
