Every single person I know who has done this and stuck to it has had success. The thing about WW is that they teach you good habits and how to eat real food. No gimmicks, no food you have to order.
It's great support. It has been many years since I have done it but I have known hundreds of people through the last thirty yrs who have been successful with it.

I encourage you to do it. Even if you just use their menus, etc it would help you to learn the proper portions, the proper combination of foods etc.

Good Luck you can do it!

i lost 25 lbs before my wedding w/ WW. i got pregnant a month later and gained it all back plus some. i never lost it until another baby later. i went back on WW and now lost over 26 lbs. it is a life style change. that's what they preach to us at the meetings. i was able to do it on my own the first time, but now i NEED to go to the meetings to have that accountability factored in.
best of luck w/ what you choose!

WW is a way of life not a diet. You can have whatever you want as long as you plan ahead. If you follow WW you will lose weight. I know it works but sometimes have trouble following it. My fault not the plan. My friend that I got to join with me has now lost 115 lbs and is 5 lbs from goal. If it is at work it will also help to have others do do it with. Good luck.

I did the online flex program about 6 years ago. I lost 30 lbs in 3 months and really stuck to it. I have never been to a meeting...I did it all online and no one did it with me. Over the years, I have kept my online account and keep track of my food and exercise during times when "the pants get a little too tight". I don't really weigh myself like I used to. I go by clothing fit. I know my weight but I'm more obsessed with my clothes fitting.

It does work and I liked how nothing was "forbidden". You balance your meals, plan ahead and make allowances for splurges. Good luck!

I didn't actually join WW, but I do try to stay within my point value. I lost 18lbs last winter and for the most part I have been working on maintaining what I lost. You can get much of the information needed to do WW on line without having to pay a fee. I guess it depends upon if you *need* the meetings. I have found that not attending the meetings works for me. My dh has lost about 30lbs by just trying to eat healthier. He doesn't count points, he just eats more vegetables, fruit and protein. We both increased our daily activity. I think some form of exercise is needed to lose/maintain weight. Moving is an important key to good health...

About 5 years ago, I lost a lot of weight doing it, but quickly went back to my old eatting habits after going on a vacation. I've gained a lot of weight since then. I'm back to doing WW and have lost 7.2 lbs in 2 wks. I love WW because I can eat foods that taste good and I like, without having to buy anything special. Check out Dotti's Weight Loss Zone! It's a wondeful source of info for anyone doing WW. They have message boards with recipes, a large list of restaurants with their points for meals, a good support system, etc.

How much does WW cost? How do the points work? What is the average amount of points per day?

Online I pay around $16 a month

Average points depends on your weight. I am on the "flex" plan...don't know if they offer that anymore to start ups

Here is some info I have on my plan

Current weight
less than 150...18-23
150-174...20-25
175-199...22-27
200-224...24.29
225-249...26.31
250-274...28.33

maintenence:
28-30

Once you’ve calculated how much time you’ve exercised at a certain activity level, here is the registered calculation for Activity Points:

Light Activity Points = Weight X Minutes X .000232
Moderate Activity Points = Weight X Minutes X .000327
Heavy Activity Points = Weight X Minutes X .0008077

You can calculate points by using this formula (if you don't want to join)

#Weight Watchers Point formula:

Calories/50 + Fat/12 - fiber/5=points

fiber maxes at 4

the daily point allowance is different now. they have a small form in one of the start up books that ask questions and you get points for the answers. i'm at work now, no book in front of me. but one question is male or female? then you get certain points for one or the other. another question was is work a sit down or stand up job? i used to be 20-25 points and i'm now at plain 21 points. we have the 35 "extra" points to use each week. still get the activity points for exercising.

Yes, WW does work.

Do they still have that little point calculator thingy that you could use on foods that weren't listed in the book? It was a slide card type thing were you put one line on the number of calories and the other line on the amount of fiber(?)and it would show the number of points per serving. That thing was great!

I did it several years ago and lost 25 pounds. I didn't care for the meetings but then it could have been the people. My meeting was people I worked with that I didn't really care for and most of them turned into total WW junkies. It was ALL they talked about and were totally obsessive.

I've thought about going back and doing the online program, that would be more my style.

It does work and isn't hard to do.
