b-day gift for 14 yr olf boy?

I am looking for a b-day gift for my 14 yr old brother-in-law. What do you get a boy of that age? We never see him because he lives with his family in Kansas.

All I know is that he likes video games, star wars and fishing. I am not sure of anything to get him.
He has a PSIII and x-box.

He is not allowed to go on the internet so any internet games are out.

TIA!

If you're looking for something besides video games or "stuff" how about a nice hoody? I bought 13 yr old DS a Levi brand hoody that he likes.

I'd find out what stores are near them and send a gift card. That way if there's a certain video game or accessory he's wanting he can use it toward that.

I have a 14 YO boy. Go with a gift card. That's what they all give each other and seem to appreciate the most.

JMHO.....yes, GC's are nice. However, there's no presents to open anymore. DD has 3 friends that insist on buying gifts, no GC's from them. I think it's fantastic!!

Yeah, I usually bundle the GC with something, but the GC is the main deal. Also, I think girls are a little different/easier to buy for....clothes, earrings, knick-knacks, etc.

My 14 year old DS just had a birthday last month. He got $30 in cash, a new belt buckle, and an AMC bowfishing reel.

How about some fishing things.....hooks, lures, sinkers, bobbers, etc.

Sorry, jujubee, but he'd probably like a 17 y.o. girl better.

Wink

When my kids and their friends and nieces and nephews hit the preteens or more like teenagers I would alays go for a g.card to a video or music store and there favorite clothing store. To me its much easier , they change their minds and have their own taste. However some of the stores are more pricer then others. hth. peace, Catherine

My son is turning 13 in Nov. His favorite gift is cash and his second favorite is a gift card. I would not buy clothes for a boy unless you knew he liked getting clothes and what kind he likes. If not you may just be wasting your money. My son hates getting clothes for gifts, where my 11 year old daughter loves getting clothes. If you were to get a gift card I would get one from a place like Target or Wal Mart. That way they have a lot to choose from.

I see you're in Cally, and he's in Kansas. I do like the hoodie idea; however, I would get one from YOUR local surf shop-something he can't find in Kansas I'm sure. If that's not in the budget, perhaps a cool t-shirt from someplace local to you. My 15 yr. old would really appreciate that.

Now that's a good idea!! What student wouldn't love to have a cool piece of clothing that's not available locally and none of the other students have? Neat idea!!
My 13 and 15 yr old kids wear only hoodies, no matter how cold. They get out of the car, walk into the bldg, stay inside all day and walk out to the car at 3. No coat required.

Gift card for someplace that sells DVDs, video games or music. Unless you know of something specific that he wants/likes, I'd stick with a gift card.
