| Help~Need to learn how to speak with a gaelic accent
Good Day M'lords and Ladies, How are thee this fyne day? Hope that all is well. It is M'wish to learn how to speak in a fashion such as this for Halloween (my dh and I are going in Celtic Dress). Does anyone know where I can find online a guide to learning how to speak like this???. I have done search after search on google, but am thinking that I am not doing the right kind of search. I don't want to learn the language, just have the accent and learn how to put my words together for a cool accent to my halloween costume! Thank ye for yer help! |

I grew (very heavy rolling on the R) up (oop) with a wee friend (again roll the R). Her (hair-roll the R) Mammy was from (again roll the R) ScOTTlend. We live in Virginia, but would impersonate her mom every time we went out. If we were drinking, the accent worked a wee bit more (again, roll the R). We haven't hung out in years and years, but I can still pretty much freak ppl out w/ my Scottish accent. It is a hard accent to learn. Just roll those R's.

Good Day M'lords and Ladies, (instead of this, say "Top of the Marnin' to ya!" It is M'wish to learn how to speak in a fashion such as this for Halloween. (replace with "Tis me wish...") Common phrase: "Well, the Lord SAVE us!" (Enunciate this way: "Well, the Lard Save'es!" ) Have fun!

Here's another site you might find useful. It's put out by the BBC Scotland, and it's got recordings on there to help you learn the proper way to pronounce the words and phrases. BBC - Beag air Bheag - Home |
