For handing out coupons. Whenever they have a $5 off coupon online I print up about 20 extras and hand them out to people in the store. They are always happy. The manager came up to me and said I could not hand out coupons. I asked why he said it's an internet thing people are supposed to go to the site themselves and get the coupon (??? why). I said have you ever thought that my handing them a coupon caused them to spend more in your store than they would have and the other Walgreen's never complains when I hand them out I will go to the other Walgreen's for my needs from now on.
I still had coupons and handed some out in the parking lot. People were thanking me left and right and one man said "don't listen to him" about the manager.
He came outside and gave me dirty looks so I left.

Imagine little innocent me getting in trouble for something!!!

Your explanation to the manager hit on exactly the reason that I no longer heavily coupon. Money off coupons like this DO make me spend more instead of less!

LOL.... the manager was worried about you when probably some teenagers in aisle 7 were shop lifting. Sounds like the manager needs more responsibility instead of worrying about who is helping his store make more money....lol

Cuthie, I get the coupons in my email, and don't remember how I came about getting them. My DD was the first to receive them, and it did say something about their photo center. Sure enuf she had gotten photos at Walgreens. I would go to their sight and email them to let them know you would like to receive the coupons.

You were very nice to be distributing the coupons. The manager sounded like a pain in the rump. If Walgreen's doesn't want internet coupons used, then they should stop posting them on their site. You did nothing wrong. I would shop elsewhere as well!

My guess is that the intent of Walgreens, in creating those Internet coupons, is to create a connecting point with their customers and not just to give a one-shot 25% off. The ones I receive via email aren't actually in the email - I have to click to go to their website to find it. If I just get the coupon without that awareness-building point of contact experience that the "Click here to go to Walgreens.com for your coupon" creates, they probably feel they didn't get the full potential out of their advertising efforts.

If only they accepted the fact that many of us do not go to the site, we get the coupons simply because some benevolent person posted it on this or another board.

I will still do it next time!

I hand mine to the cashier in the store.

Our local store prints out a bunch and puts them in a basket up by the ads.

I had someone give me one the other day when I was ringing her up. I was trying to figure out how to get on our website to print more out lol. The only problem with the internet printed coupons sometimes is that it won't scan for us, we have to type the bar code in. Not that big of a deal, just a pain sometimes.
