Blood sugar

I think everyone is different when it comes to this. But there is a ball park number so to speak.
So for you diabetics and prediabetics what is a good morning number and a good bedtime number?
Do you think some people can just have a "higher" number? Kind of like blood pressure? Or should everyone be the same?

Your body may be able to function w/ a higher blood sugar or higher blood pressure, but it's so hard on the body to function that way. Kind of like a Ford Taurus CAN go 110 mph--but for only a limited time and then it usually just stops; the Taurus just isn't built to run at 110 mph. Your body just isn't built to run w/ a consistently high blood pressure or high blood sugar.

When I had gestational diabetics the MD, and the nutrionist suggested keeping my blood sugar btwn 80-120.

I think a fasting blood sugar is suppose to be below 100 (but, thankfully it's been a long time since my gestational diabetes.)

I love the analogy! That completely makes sense.
Let me point out I have every possible risk factor out there. Three ten pound plus babies, gestational diabetes, family history, etc.
My fasting has been running from 110-130ish. and my bedtime is 150 plus..depending on what I had for dinner.
Other then feet hurting and bathroom visits on the hour I feel fine. Is that normal?

you should make an appointment with your dr. Both myself and my dd are type 1 diabetics. a normal blood range for non diabetic is 80 - 120. a diabetic is 80 - 150. Hope that helps

Just out of curiosity can kids with type 1 grow out of it? Someone told me yesterday they could and I thought they couldn't.
I do have an appt for a glucose test Thursday. Is there another type of test I should ask for?

nobody can grow out of type 1 diabetes your pancrease is completely dead, wont be raised again...lol. Type 2 is where your pancrease still works some. And you can usually control type 2 with pills, and weight control. Type 1 you can weight 100 lbs and you will still be taking shots the rest of your life. also ask them to give you a A1C just to see what it looks like. If its under 6 its fine if its over 6 then that will be helpful for you dr. A1C tells the dr how your blood sugars have been over a 3 months period.

Thank you!
Great point about the pancreas. I hadn't thought it through completely. Obviously.lol
I will ask about the A1C as well. I want to go in there somewhat prepared. So that helps alot.
I dont think my weight is an issue. Im not overweight. I have a hard time keeping it if anything.
Im one of those that can eat anything and not worry. Except now that Im getting older gravity is kicking in.
No extra weight...just the sag.

Unexplained weight loss is a symptom of diabetes.
