Why is it always one step forward....

two steps back?????

As a lot of you know, we just sent our oldest son to college in August. My parents were wonderful and bought him a laptop for his h.s. graduation present. It was so stressful getting him into college, and took a HUGE amount out of our budget to get him there, not to mention the trips back and forth since, sending him extra cash, buying books, etc. Well he called this afternoon. He knocked over a bottle of water onto his keyboard last night-basically flatlining the computer. My parents gave me the receipt-they bought the extended warranty which should cover this. However, I cannot find that receipt. I know I would not have intentionally tossed it out, but I can't find it anywhere. They bought the laptop at a Navy Exchange w/ a credit card. Just hoping, if I can't find the receipt, that we can get a duplicate somewhere. We still have the box w/ the serial #. I am just stressing over this one. If we end up having to buy a new laptop this weekend, our budget will be severly affected. Please don't flame him for spilling the water, and he should pay for a new one, yada, yada, yada. The bottom line is that he does not have the $$ right now, and he feels horrible about the situation. I guess, worse case scenario, we will probably head to Sam's and cough up $600 bucks for a new laptop. I am just sick to my stomach. Any suggestions for me, besides buying my kid a sippy cup and kicking his arse?

You should be able to either get a duplicate or a slip of some kind for the charge on the card which would have some kind of internal reference number for the store.
Good Luck I am sure everything will be fine.

When paying with a credit card, there's some warranty coverage included through the credit card company.
Tell your not so DS to keep the cap screwed on the bottle inbetween sips.

Don't worry and you should be able to clear your mind enough to find the receipt. I know when I am looking and worrying,,I cannot focus. Half the time I find it in a place where I just KNEW I would find it..like on the fridge or in my wallet. Good luck !

No flaming for Patrick here. Hey, I can spill with the best of them.
Accidents happen to all of us. Good luck finding the receipt/confirmation. Keep us posted.

Hang in there Lynn!

We had to make a return on our boys Xbox a few weeks ago (I had the extended warranty) and they were able to pull it up using our last name. They verified the serial number on the Xbox and we were good to go.

HUGS!

I agree with Breggae - seems they should be able to pull it up by serial number or name. They put all that stuff in the computer.

Good luck getting it worked out!

We know what "real" worries are in life. We faced health problems with our sons. This is fixable even if it costs $$$'s.

It is a lesson for him. Those we learn the hard way are usually the ones that stick with us.

I am sorry for your stress though.

Sending Hugs,
Shirley
