I know Wiis were the hot item last year and very difficult to get, but with persistence, you could get one. Are these going to be in demand again this year? I really don't know, but if they are, I would start looking now. You can call Game Stop or Walmart and ask when their shipments come in.

If you buy a new Wii, the price will be $249 wherever you buy it. I found ours on Christmas Eve at Target. They had about a dozen and there wasn't a line to get them. It came with the sports pack which includes bowling, tennis, boxing, and baseball. We borrow games from our library. We can keep them for four weeks which is nice because the kids can really test them out and see what they like. This has saved us a bundle because the kids haven't liked some of the games. Barnyard is one we get again and again -- it's fun and they all enjoy it. I don't know about buying them used.

$249 is the lowest price you're going to find for a Wii in a retail setting because that is the price set by Nintendo and stores are not allowed to sell it at a lower price. Similar rules apply to most of the other major video game consoles. Now stores ARE allowed to offer things such as free/discounted games, free store gift cards, free promo items, etc. with the purchase of a console. That is OK and is done quite often on many systems but I've never seen one done on the Wii, I guess it's just too popular to need promos. Your est chance at getting a Wii is going to the store when they open on the first day of an ad that features the Wii in it. For example if the Wii is in the Target ad that starts on Sunday, you should be there when the store opens on Sunday. Most stores will have some on the very first day of the ad if it is pictured. Other than that, it's just a matter of always be prepared to buy it just in case you happen upon one while out shopping.

I had my name on the gamestop reserve list , been awhile since they had the list though was a special thing. they put my phone # in wrong when they put my name down, i called immediatly after I got home for them to change it "Alright it's been changed thnak you!" they never called, I called to complain and they never changed it in the system and since they couldnt reach me they sold it to someone else. after talking to the regional manager <I skipped a couple heads since I was mad> he found one and had it delivered to me the next day so i didnt have to go get it.

Tip: look through the Sunday ads. If Target or Best Buy has them listed in the ad, they will have at least 5 in each store. I went to Best Buy last year in August when I saw them in the ad. I got in line an hour before they opened. I got one but about 7 people behind me didn't. I bought the Wii Fit the same way 2 months ago. I saw the ad in Target's Sunday ad, got there a bit before they opened. Go straight to the electronics dept. They keep them at the desk, not on the shelf. no sales...ever that I have seen. Only "sale" was at Costco (but they hardly ever have them) and the system had an extra game included or sometihng

I agree with jthe above posters about the Wii being the same price...although you might find a "package" deal. Used games from stores such as Game Crazy are guaranteed to work. We purchase them that way for a bit cheaper than new and haven't had a problem with either Wii or DS games.

We could not find one anywhere!!!!!!!!!! ANd I never thought I would, but I bought a new one on Ebay and got a great deal with a Buy It Now, we got the consoole with a TON of extras (3 or 4 games, steering wheels, extra controllers, etc.) for about $300. If you decide to go that route, check the seller very carefully and make sure they are reputable and always pay with credit card funded Paypal!!

I got lucky for mine at a local store that just got some in. However, I just got an email from one of our partners, Toys R Us, saying they have them in stock: http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/...type=3&subid=0

I would just keep checking at stores around you. Target stores by me have them in stock every few weeks. Some say GameStop is a good place to find them too. I would not wait because there probably won't be any deals on the consoles yet this year -- they are still too popular. Close to Thanksgiving & Christmas, they are just going to be harder to find. i would not buy a used Wii from someone you don't know. If it's stolen it can be tracked. A friend of mine got theirs stolen and the police were able to track it down. Used games are fine -- we buy them all the time at GameStop. It's not a huge discount, but you still save a few bucks. You can use the Wii just as it is out of the box. You may want to buy extra remote controllers and nunchucks so more than one person can play at a time. |

I got mine on Black Friday last year. My sister and I were on a mission. She headed to GameStop and waited in line for 2 hours, and I waited at Kmart for 1.5 hours. My sister ended up being the last one in line to get it. I was still waiting in the cold, but was 2 people behind the last person to get one. It is hard, but with some planning, you can get one. My ds always goes to GameStop and gets used games, especially the new releases, you can get them about a week later and for about $10.00 less. For ds birthdays, he always asks his grandparents for gc to GameStop. The whole family really enjoys it, we have bowling contests, box each other (can really let some frustration out!!). Its something the whole family will enjoy, WE DO!!!
