What was your kind gesture of the day?

When I was at the grocery I saw an old man shopping. He had several items I had coupons for,
I stopped him and gave him the coupons and a coupon for a free coffee.
He was close to tears, told me it had been a long time since he has received such a kind gesture,
Just made me feell good all over.

You are so kind! We need more people like you in the world.

I have nothing to add except that I took a day off of the volunteer work that I do ... for ME! I'm being kind to myself. Does that count?

I have a new engineer who joined my group after the refillable coffee cups were given out company wide and we've run out. I brought mine (still unused) in from home and gave it to her. It's more important for her to have it than me.

I picked up a few bags of adult diapers and gave them to a client who needs them and cant afford them. Am also crocheting lots of caps and am going to the homeless shelter next week to give them out when I finish them.

I didn't bawl DH out when he came home so very late from work, as I knew he had a bunch of stuff to finish. Maybe not the first place for congeniality, but the kids were all over the place and I really could have used his help earlier in the eve--like before bedtime.

Today I gave my friend 25 uncut coupon inserts and some other cut coupons that would get her some free items at the double coupon store. I also gave my favorite cashier (at the double coupon store) 5 coupons so she could get 5 free meals to try with double coupons. My friend gave me several bags of cat liter that she had gotten with double coupons.

I put money in a parking meter of the car next to mine, it was about to expire.

I sent $30 to a friend from another message board that is going through tough times (aren't we all) and has very little food in the house. It was ebay money I had made.

I saw a woman at the grocery store today about my age. Her hands were shaking terribly and she was trying to rip off one of the plastic veggie bags to put her veggie in. I got the bag and opened it for he, saying these things are so tricky (which they are)

I let my DH choose what he is fixing for our breakfast right now! LOL
He has been doing most of the cooking since I had a stroke in Feb. and still have trouble with my right hand. (I am smelling bacon!)

I know this makes me sound like a total nerd, but when I hear about people that are REALLY in need , I try and get their address and sign them up for freebies that I find. For instance, I work in a hospital. Besides the nurses, there are alot of people that get paid minimum wage! The sweet older man that does our floors at night, working 3-11 full time, also drives a school bus 5 days a week, every day. Also tries to get field trip gigs and football games for extra money, also has a wife that works housekeeping at another hospital, and ALSO drives a school bus. This same sweet couple also has custody of their granddaughter, who is 3. He is just the sweetest guy!! So I sign him up for every freebie I can find. I can't afford to give him money, but he comes to work telling about the great things he gets in the mail, and nobody knows it's me!! It makes me feel so good! I'm thinking about at Christmas, if I can get some good deals on stuff, maybe leaving some things on their porch?? Has anyone here ever done anything like that?? This world can be so mean, we need to all do anything that we can to make it better!!

Not really a deed for the day, but, I'll list it anyway.

The football team has an away game on Halloween, and I got a group rounded up to bring in candy and help me stuff the 200 bags I handstamped. The bags will be given to the band on the ride home that night.
