If it is something that leaves a residue (doritos, fried chicken, garlic bread, etc.) then yes, I tend to lick the tips of my fingers and then wipe with a napkin. I don't do it in a restaurant, though - only at home. I don't lick my fingers if I am putting cookie dough on a cookie sheet until I finish the last one on the sheet. Then I will lick my fingertips and wash my hands.
