Disappointed-Less than 20 Trick of Treaters!

This is our fourth Halloween out here and last night we had less than 20 Trick of Treaters! And three of them were drunken middle aged women lol!
I hope it's better next year and now I have all this leftover candy.

What happened?

here I think veryone went to Trunk or Treat at a church there had to have been about 200+ people there, police directing main highway traffic and all.

of course thats much better than this story I read today :-( Boy fatally shot trick-or-treating, police say - CNN.com

We only had about 30 kids ~ a far cry from our past years when we'd have well over 100. We also didn't get the teenagers & grandmothers with babies holding out their bags. Almost all of the 30 were darling little wee ones in adorable costumes.

We had one! Seriously -- one kid all night! It was very strange.

I had very few also . I am guessing that being on the weekend, the kids might have gone to private Halloween parties.

I certainly wasn't "disappointed"...it isn't like they purposely skipped my house...

We had one trick or treater. Our first in 17 years of living on this rural, out of the way farm. The "liitle space man" that visited us last night lives in the mobile home down the road that we rent out.

No surprise to me that there weren't very many out trick or treating last night. It was Friday night with parties and high school football games to go to. This is the first year that I've never gave out candy. When we came home last night about 8, there was only 3 houses with lights on as far as I could see up and down my street.
Next year will be Saturday and the next year Sunday. Makes for an interesting Halloween.

Not too many here either. I loaded up because our weather couldn't have been better and I was thinking we would get many more due to it being on a Friday. I have seen fewer and fewer over the last 5 years or so. Sad for me because it is one of my favorite nights and I have fond memories of being a trick-or-treater myself and of my kids as well. We put out pumkins and lights and try to make it fun for the kids. Oh well, times change ....

We usually have around 75. Last night we had about 125. We had more than usual. It was so nice, we sat out on the driveway and handed it out.

We had a ton. I had over 500 pieces of candy plus tattos, sticky hands and rubber skeltons and I only have a little left. We gave about 3 things to each kid. We still had teens around 9:30 but I had to get the kids ready for bed so we turned out the lights. I know we had some activities around here like football games and a band concert. Weird they would do that on halloween I think but had more kids than in the past. I think it's because we had nice weather. It's usually raining or snowy and it was in the 60's

I had A -LOT of T or T's more than I ever expected my candy was gone in record time and I was a little upset that I could not see any more cute little customs, but by the looks of my street I would have needed TONS of candy, like I said in another post it kinda looked like a parade outside LOL :-)

we didn't have any trick or treaters last night! Doesn't surprise me much, a 12 year old child was killed while trick or treating last night in a town about 30 miles from here, he was shot thru the door!! How sad! I think this might put a ban on trick or treating around here now~ If my kids were still young I really don't know if I'd let them go anymore or not~

I had about 20 kids/teenagers. No one said "Trick or Treat". They just held out their bags, no one said thank you. But the best was, the girl that push my front door wide open. I just open the door a little, enough to give out the candy. Well I guess she didn't think is was open enough for her , cause she pushed my front door wide opened. I look at and said excuse me, but don't do that again.

We gave out candy, but we only had about 25 kids and I left for an hour to go TOT with DD. I gave out a handfull of candy to each kid and still had a ton left over, I bought 8 bags and planned to stay home to give out candy and let DH take DD, but when only 9 kids came by to get candy (DD and DH stopped by the house to get a drink) I decided to go with them, then when we got back I had more trick or treaters between 9-9:30 than the whole night, no one after 9:30, TOT ends at 10 here. When we were out TOT there were hardly any lights on. I am wondering if people could just not afford candy? With the economy? I mean you could tell they were home. There were no ball games in our town last night, alot of people just did not give out candy.

Well I found out that yes there was a football game (out of town!) trunk or treat at some churches and an indoor kid's party. Sigh there were not even any homeless out today with signs. I left the candy in my car so it won't be taunting all weekend.

Sorry about ringing your bell last night. BTW, we weren't just drunk, we were PMSing drunks. Thanks for the chocolate....j/k

Actually our house was pretty busy last night. I would say we had about a hundred or so, and a lot of little ones this year. While there are only 90 houses in our subdivision, my kids each got about half a pillowcase full-insane! They each got some coins, and I think 3 or 4 full-size candy bars. I guess, in these economic times, that my neighbors must be doing a lot better off than we are right now! I think the biggest hit of the neighborhood was the neighbor across from me. We live in a semi-cul-de-sac, and they pulled out their old-fashioned popcorn cart to the middle of the court and were handing out bags of fresh, hot popcorn. I think she was passing out to as many parents as kids. It really should be a lot of fun next year too, being on a Saturday.

Our city had T&T hours from 6-8 pm, and I had TWO people. TWO. The weather was beautiful. I don't know what the problem was. I have a LOT of poptarts - I gave my son's friends about a case of them and still have lots left.

We had 6--my oldest dd's friends that she went around town with to T-O-T. That's the first time in the 4 years we've been here that we have had anyone come to our door. We are down a looooong driveway that is DARK though, so I guess we never will get anyone. We normally aren't here anyway, but last night DH was home with our 2 year old. I took my other two dds around town. There were very few lights on and amazingly a lot of drunks and adult parties. Not normally like that around here (I'm not saying there is anything wrong with those parties--just hasn't been that way ever in this town since we moved here, plus they were all out in the yards with little kids trick-or-treating/they were passing out candy--weird). There were several houses with men in their garages all darkened out using chain saws. Geez. Of course not one kid was going up to those houses. Those people practically ruined it for my 7 year old. She was scared to death. Of course it's just a lot of adults reliving their youth/having fun. No harm done; I'm sure the chain saw people had ALL of their candy left over the next day, haha. We were only out about an hour and a half but was still fun. I figured it was probably the economy that kept most people from turning on their lights, but I forgot all about H.S. football games. I bet that was a lot of it here. We have a huge school and seems like everyone goes to the games.

Gosh, I haven't heard anything at all about the boy getting shot through the door while trick-or-treating. That is just horrible. I'll have to see if I can find the info. We did have one house that left their unwrapped 'gumballs' in a big bowl outside with a sign to just take a few. I made the kids throw them out immediately. I didn't realize at first that they weren't wrapped. Gosh, Who in the world would do that unless they are crazy to begin with? I sure do hope it was gumballs only and not meth or something. I should have kept them and taken them to the police station to check for drugs. Seemed fishy but I didn't even think about it. You can never really be too safe anymore. This may be our last year to go around town; the kids love Halloween (as I did as a kid too) and beg to walk around the neighborhood though. There are so many nuts out nowadays you just never know anymore.

I go to my parents, since we never get anyone at our house. We counted 288 kids! It seemed here that there were more pre and teenage kids than little ones. We even had 3 adults (I'm talking 40ish) come at different times!

We had three kids show up 5 minutes after we gave up on trick or treaters. We're in a really small town, but there are tons of kids. I think the parents took them to the next town over.

There weren't as many kids out in our neighborhood this year. I think it has a lot to do with what someone else said - it was Friday night. We thought it was going to be great not having to get up for school the next day...but I think t-o-t on a school night is better now. LOL Last year there were tons of kids and some people set up little haunted houses...this year there was hardly anyone even home and not many people decorated.

I had 1!!!! It was rumored that the nearby neighborhoods were giving out full size candy bars. The punks didn't want my fun size candy's. There goes my New Years resolution to lose some of my hips.
