Wink Do you all think that the malls will be crazy this christmas season

I ask this because just going in all th stores in my area they all seem so empty..Like yesterday normally walgreens always has alot of people in there, since its Sunday and not a work day for many people. However its not only walgreens I also noticed the emptiness in Target and Sears as well. I know these are hard financial times for people. So does anyone else notice their stores being empty as well. I always disliked shopping in the malls as we get closer to christmas because it always was so packed with people. However sadly I did not want it to be that hard for people to be able to do their normal christmas shopping..Peace.. Catherin

I work in the mall, Bath and Body works to be specific and the business in our store is BOOMING. The store is always crowded and people are in there with lists doing Holiday shopping.

Our mall seems to be packed every weekend. It's not too bad during the week but it's still busy.
I think, if the deals are right, the mall could be jammed packed this holiday season.

Are you imploying that you wished that the malls wouldn't be packed and you somehow over-wished? Or am I just reading funny?

But yeah, will the malls be crazy.?...depends on WHO shows up, I guess! LMAO

Not sure about malls, but I was at WalMart and Target yesterday and both were packed! I saw several people looking at lists and seeming to be buying Christmas stuff.
I told my husband they don't know how to really live on the edge, I like to wait until at least the day after Thanksgiving to start buying stuff and I really like to wait until the last week! Seems to early to be Christmas shopping.

I'll go to hit some of the Black Friday sales and get a couple of my cheap coffee posts for $5, but that's about it. I used to love to go to the mall, but now, with no little ones at home, it seems to have lost it's "magic"

I do 95% of my Christmas shopping online.

I'm not even touching the Mall unless they are giving out gift certificates at some of the stores.

Back when DH and I were in college and we had two babies (which equals $$$$ in diapers) we would start Christmas shopping in September. We were barely scraping by so it made more sense for us to purchase one or two gifts each pay period so we wouldn't have to put it on the credit cards, and after we got all of our gifts purchased we would stash any extra money we could come by to pay for gas or plane tickets we needed so we could spend the holidays with our family. I always thought it was smart budgeting and although we weren't "living on the edge" by waiting to buy our Christmas presents after Thanksgiving, I rather enjoyed shopping in less crowded stores and having plenty of time to think about what to get people. Besides, by September most stores started displaying Christmas items already. Maybe because of the economy people are starting to think more about the future and how much of a crunch it can be for many families if they wait to do their shopping later. Just my 2cents.

we were at the outlets this weekend, and they were packed. DH & I actually talked about how you'd never know the economy was tanking based on the business the stores we went into were doing - there were long(ish) lines to check out in all of them.

Do y'all think this is Christmas shopping going on - or maybe change-of-season, time to get the sweaters, boots, and cords shoppping?

Oh I was just teasing. I know how it is to have kids in diapers, I have 3 year old twins and one will always be in diapers, she has severe disabilities. Plus a 5 year old that I fear will never be out of pull ups at night.

I just can't feel like it is Christmas time yet, we just had Halloween

And know some people were buying for Christmas, they had a cart full of ornaments and other decorations. A few others in the toy section and looking at lists.

Wink

cjs216 as I stated before I love christmas shopping as most of us do however sometimes the malls just get way too crowded and then you have your jacket to carry and you have warm clothes on . And mostly you carrying around alot of shopping bad and with all the crowds, it is hard. I think it would be hard for anyone. For us me and my dh and family we do not start shopping until December first, so we do start late and perhaps thats not always a good thing,, However while I am not crazy about the crowds, this post was asking do you think the stores or malls will be a little less empty due to the ecominic hard times we all have experienced... Peace.. CAtherine
