Anyone else dreaming of a white Christmas?

With the chilly weather we've been having lately, it looks like winter is on it's way. I'm really hoping we have snow for Christmas this year, as I do every year. However, my hopes are usually met with disappointment. We don't normally get much snow at all until January. KY has the stupidest weather..... There have been a few years when I've had to turn on the AC in December, and one year we even had snow in early May. By then, I'm ready for summer.

I don't know if it's just delusional childhood memories, or global warming..... But, as a kid it seemed like we always had lots of snow in the winter and at Christmas time. To me, it just doesn't feel like Christmas without snow. Plus, if it's going to be cold, I want it to snow! New fallen snow is so pretty. I know a lot of people don't like driving in snow, but I don't mind it at all. I just don't like when it's cold and windy! Brrrrrr! If I have to freeze my butt off, at least give me some snow.

I realize that most of you live in other parts of the country and your winters are probably much different than here in KY. I was just wondering..... How does everyone else feel about their winter weather? Is anyone else dreaming of a white Christmas?

I always hope for a white Christmas! In upstate NY we either have a balmy Christmas or a blizzard! There doesn't seem to be a happy medium. I'll try and send some of our snow your way for Christmas!!

Always dreaming of a white christmas. Living in New York we have had some White Christmas's which are always truly special and very meaningful.. To me there cannot be christmas without cold weather.Having your family and the tree and the decorations and looking out the window and seeing the down come down is a beautiful site. However I always loved the Winter and so anytime for me when it snows, does anyone else feel like me. I feel its so peaceful so quite so beautiful. I love to look up at the snow falling and feel the cold snow come down on my face...I truly hope may see some snow here in New York this Christmas... peace... Catherine

It would be nice! Although if we get one, I hope it's a "gentle" snow and not a blizzard! We had a pre-xmas blizzard that snowed in the whole city basically for a week. My business was hard to control because customers ordered right as the blizzard hit and then UPS couldn't pick up anything because streets were not passable. The airports were closed...not fun. A light dusting would be nice though

Excellent description! I'm with you all the way! Snow coming down and looking up at it swriling around is wonderful. I love snow and cold and I sure hope we have a white Christmas here. With Iowa, you never know. Nothing more tranquil than standing outside on a cold, still, snowcovered night (not for too long of course!).

I would love a white Christmas. Nothing major, just enough to make it look pretty.

I'm dreaming... doesn't hurt to dream. We generally get about 2-3 good ones a year with 3-4 inches each time here in Northwestern AZ! Usually melts by 10:00 am. We will be home this year and snow would be wonderful!

I want snow!

Not enough that my parents can't travel because I want them to come for Christmas, but enough to look pretty.

Oh my, what do I miss?

The Colts, Downtown, the canal, the Hilton downtown, the Ram, the fans, the people, the beautiful women (I am not into women, but I find some of the most beautiful women I have ever seen are from Indiana!!), the clean streets, the happy atmosphere..

The southern Hospitality..

The Colts.. (had to repeat)

and now, I am adding to the list The RCA Dome. I haven't been back since it was torn down, so I know downtown will be so much different now with Lucas Oil Stadium there. I hear there are bad seats now, where in the RCA dome, only if you got behind the posts at the end zones, was there a bad seat.

I just love Indy.

Last time we wished for a white Christmas it flurried on Christmas Eve. That following summer we were devastated by Katrina, We will never wish for a white Christmas again.

I agree not to much to make everything close, just enough to make it look pretty

We usually end up with a Maine White Christmas. Not always, but more often than not. I love it. Although I would actually like to spend one Christmas on a nice warm, sandy beach with a cold drink in my hand.....a no stress!

It would be a dream for us to have a white Christmas!!

My kids and I still remember one time that it snowed close to Christmas, we had our lights on , and made the prettiest pictures!! We will always look back on that fondly.

Ah well, we can still hope!! I hate when it's actually hot and humid on Christmas!!

I like a warm Christmas. I like to wear jeans and a sweater and be able to take my kids to the park behind FILs house when they get bored.

We are going to Universal Studios in Hollywood during our visit. This will be my first Christmas away from Illinois/snow/sleet/rain in 21 years.

Guess what I just found out?

They are having a really big thing going on, and I am sure it is a huge deal for the folks in LA:

The Grinches Christmas, with snow, sledding hills and all you need for a WHITE CHRISTMAS.

Shoot me. Just shoot me now.

No, I do not need any snow to have a Merry Christmas.

I LIKE having a green Christmas but it's only happened a few times here in Erie, PA.

Snow is a big fat pain. Get up in the mornig, shovel a path out to the car, scrape all the show/ice off the car, deal with idiots on the road who act like this is the first time its EVER snowed in Erie, come out of work to scrape the car again, dig out the driveway where the snowplow filled it in while you were gone, get in the house and have to deal with a bundle of wet clothes since you've been out shoveling for so long, etc.

No, I don't find snow to be attractive in the least. How about I send all our snow to y'all in areas where it doesn't snow and you send me all you heat and I'll even take the humidity, at least I don't have to shovel the humidity!

Here in northern Minnesota we are almost guaranteed a white Christmas. (Although there have been a few years...) I love the snow in December, it's the snow in April that I have a hard time dealing with! (And the snow in May? Well, stick a fork in me and call me done...) What I don't like is the bitter cold -- it seems we often have our first real cold snap around Christmas...like -20 F. (Although I do remember one Christmas that it was almost 40F! That was a treat for us!)

Whatever your weather, I hope each of you has a blessed and peaceful Holiday Season!
