At least I remember that's what the posts on the Your Family Board used to be called when there were posts for Believers. I pray. That should be no secret around here. I've done it for many members over the years I've been here, but now I come asking that those that also do, will. Claim Galations 6:7 over this "ad campaign" link provided below the verse. VS 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Ads proclaiming, "Why believe in a god? Just be good for goodness' sake," will appear on Washington, D.C., buses starting next week and running through December. The American Humanist Association unveiled the provocative $40,000 holiday ad campaign Tuesday. FOXNews.com - 'Why Believe in a God? Just be Good' Ads Set to Run Next Week Through Christmas On D.C. Buses - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News It's a deliberate attack or they could have run the ad without the first five words. further in the article a man is quoted as saying "we are trying to plant a seed of rational thought and critical thinking and questioning in people's minds." Christianity as a whole is taking quite a beating right now. It hurts to see it come to things like this. Thanks for your time, X

If I'm reading this right, it's an attack on theism in general, not Christianity. I believe in God, but I don't see how something that powerful could be hurt by an ad on the side of a bus, nor does the ad, or the understanding that not everyone believes in a greater power, offend me.

Pulled from the article as an explanation for why they are doing the ad campaign for their particular city: "In Washington, the humanists' campaign comes as conservative Christian groups gear up their efforts to keep Christ in Christmas. In the past five years, groups such as the American Family Association and the Catholic League have criticized or threatened boycotts of retailers who use generic "holiday" greetings. In mid-October, the American Family Association started selling buttons that say "It's OK to say Merry Christmas." The humanists' entry into the marketplace of ideas did not impress AFA president Tim Wildmon." It sounds like this is their particular groups' response to what they feel is previous years' advertising by Christian groups that has effected the local business community. Trying to create balance?! I'd have to say that I feel that neither side should be doing ads, pro- or anti- God. I believe that each person's relationship with God is a personal one. |

Cuthie, you are so right. Unless of course they are the Pres elect and they open up their mouth and say they are a Christian but then say the direct opposite while explaining their Christian beliefs. ugh.. I think that anyone can post a sign up if they want. This I agree with Truble. That is what makes us Americans. The freedom of expression and the freedom of religion. We all have that right. But it doesn't mean it won't be met with scrutiny. When you open yourself up and make proclamations, you open yourself up to criticism and scrutiny. |
