Janeaga, I went to check it out..and I'm confused, not surprising considering my limited knowledge of the internet. Can you explain what this site is and how to use it?
Thank You

A friend told me about it. The songs are free to download from Frostwire. You'll have to load Frostwire to your computer, then you can look up songs by title, artist, etc and after the list of songs come up, you pick which one you want and download it into your 'library' of songs. I normally choose from the top of the list (or from the top 3 or 4). Then you can load them onto your MP3. (I got my dd an Ipod for her birthday, so I also have Itunes downloaded, but just put the Frostwire songs into Itunes and loaded it onto her Ipod) And I'm pretty sure...let me go check....yep, I have the Kid Rock/Sheryl Crowe Picture song downloaded.

Hope I didn't confuse ya!!

OK, I had to go into my frostwire to check. Click the library tab and then on the left side click on individually shared files, that should bring up your song list in frostwire. Pick the song you want and then just hit the play button at the bottom of the frostwire page (I just tried it and it worked fine). Not sure why the songs went into Itunes, I had to manually put them into mine.

I am leaving for the day (no internet at home) but I'll be 'here' tomorrow if you need me.

Just a heads up...this site looks like Limewire, and while there is much discussion about the legality of peer to peer downloads, the downloads that you may be getting are not uh....perfectly "legal"

Great, just what I need. What do I do to get out of this? I can't go to the slammer!

UPDATE- I got scared and had my 15year old uninstall Frostwire- He asked why I had gotten into the same type of site that I had forbid him to download...um, I cracked and said because I wanted a certian song....sounded feeble, even to my own ears.
Too bad, they had every song I was looking for! Thanks Janega for the tip, I'm just too chicken to keep it even though I'm sure it is just fine....

Well, there are legal pay sites to download music. I believe that Napster uses .wma (windows media) format for their downloads.

Looks like Napster is a membership. You pay so much per month and download what you want...
I wonder what happens to the songs you download after you let your membership expire? just "poof"? Anybody know?

The songs remain on your harddrive, you could also burn them to a cd. Which Bob Seger songs are you looking for? I may have them.

What I can do is send them to you via email as attachments. Give me a couple of hours and I'll get back to you.

I could also send them as yousendit files in case you don't trust attachments.

I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad here or wagging my techie finger at anyone, but sharing music this way is also a copyright violation. Unless you pay for the CD or download you are infringing on the artist's rights.

Umm, I sent her tunes from my own cds and yes, I own them. I'm 48 and my DH is 49 we both have been purchasing vinyl/tapes/cds since the late 60s. I converted a ton of vinyl to cd besides having the hundreds of cds we already own. That's one of the reasons I asked her to wait a bit, I had to find the songs she wanted.

Right, YOU own them. It does not give you redistribution rights. For you to send them to her is not legal. Now will anyone come after you for doing this? I highly doubt it. I'm just putting it out there so you know.
