When I was a little girl, I always wanted to name my daughter Tawny. (I loved the Tawny, Scrawny Lion book)

Now that I'm older I actually like the name Claire. I still also love the name Riana Elizabeth (that was the name that we had for my baby girl that I lost during pregnancy).

When I was younger I liked the names Nicole and Rory. I didn't use either for my three children. They are:
Christopher Rocco
Andrew Nicolas and
Emily Elizabeth

A couple girls names we liked when we had our first was Amy and Katie. Ten years later when we had our girl we didn't really consider those names again.

I always liked the name Jacoby Scott for a boy.
I wanted to name our daughter Bret, but dh wouldn't iet me (his name is Bret)
I heard the name Siobhan mentioned...that is my nieces name. Its very different. Either no one knows how to pronounce it, or if she says it...they don't know how to spell it. I have only heard of it a few other times...

My son was going to be Zachary Aron ; Zachary, after Mark-Paul's character on Saved by the Bell - my all time favorite show as a teen, and Aron, after Elvis Aron Presley.

However, DH said that there was no way he was naming his son after a drug addict (the Aron), so I changed his middle name to Glen, which is my adoptive father's middle name.

There was never any doubt what his name would be. His name had been picked out for years. And DH knew better than to question his first name. I did not have a problem with changing the middle name.

If I would have had a girl, we didn't have any names picked out, except Ariel (which I really didn't like too much - too Disney-ish). I think because I knew I would have a boy, because DH knew I wanted a little boy so much (even as a child, I only wanted boy baby dolls, never girl ones) and I knew his sperm would not fail me, LOL.

I used the names that I liked when younger...Ginger Renee, Daniel Shane, Steven Anthony. Those are the names given the children I had. The names of the children that I was gifted with John Jr. , Francesca June, David Wesley, Joella Taylor. My last little angel I was gifted with and the only one still at home is Aliyah Marie. She was gifted to me on my 48th birthday. What a wonderful gift she is.
Yes, I am the old lady in the shoe. lol I have loved being such.
I were to name a girl today it would be Cheyenne Rayne. I don't know what I would name a boy.

Growing up I always wanted a dd named Brooke Marie. I am the 4th generation in my family to have Marie as a middle name and I wanted to continue that. But when dd#1 was born I asked her if she wanted to be named Brooke. She scowled at me. (yes she was only 1 day old but still....LOL) I asked her 2 more times and she scowled each time. We couldn't think of a name for her, but a name came to me at 4am in the hospital. We named her Kaci Lynne. When I got preggers the 2nd time, I told dh he could name this one. When dd#2 came out, he said "well, looks like we have our Brooke Marie!" And she didn't scowl so we knew that name would be hers. LOL

Funny thing is dd#1 was born on opening day of duck season and dd#2 was born on the last day of duck season.....and dh is a duck hunter!

I thought my son would be a girl I had the name Sarah all picked out. Years later in case I ever had a girl (never did oh well just the one son) I would name her Alexa.

I also loved the rock and roll names, but have an unusual last name, so Rhiannon or Morrison would have been a hefty handle to hang on a baby. If I had married a Smith or Johnson I would have picked Rhiannon or Kasmir (my dd has a friend named Kasmir....always makes me think of Fast Times at Ridgemont High and the scene in the pool house!)

I also went through an "irish" phase and loved Emma, Brittany, Brooke, Megan, etc etc.......

I have always liked the name Susan.
Now I also like Ellen
Can't think of any boy names I really like a lot.

My kids are Eden Elizabeth (my middle name is also Elizabeth)
and Eric Ruel (an old family name)

Grandkids are Casey Christine, Willoughby Ellsbourne (combination of both Grandmother's maiden names) and Finley Clark.

I didn't want to have kids when I was younger so I didn't pick any names out! LOL

For my oldest, the two choices for her were:
Lauren Emma Marie (which is what I named her) or Lauren Kelly Marie

My middle one only had one choice, but two different spellings: Erin Elizabeth Anne or Eryn Elizabeth Anne (which is what her name is)

For #3, the choices for her were: Ivy Naysa Mae or Naysa Ivy Mae (which is her name!).

When I was pregnant w/#2, the only name we could agree on was Cade Marlin Merdic. Marlin is my dad's middle name and Merdic is hubby's dad's middle name (he died in 1996). If we were to have a boy now, one of his middle names would be Michael, my hubby's first name. I have no clue what his first name or other middle name would be, though.

Mediterranee (knew a girl from France)
Scout (To Kill a Mockingbird)
Sinjin (there was a Sinjin Smith in the 80s, boy)
Shea (boy)

What does it mean to be "gifted" with children?

Never had any names picked out until really the end of my pregnancies lol

Went through a baby name book, only one that stood out was Adrian, husband said that's the only name that came to mind for him too, so we gave him my husband's middle name, Ewan. My father thought it was a bit girly, and also thinks of Rocky (as in Sylvester Stallone).

First daughter, the name Morgan came to mind, I already knew I was going to give her the middle name Maeri, Mary is a family name (my first name is spelled differently though.. Merry). Husband said he didn't like Morgan, but maybe Morrighan or something like that, so that's what her first name is.

Baby, I liked the name Maeve, so that's what her first name is... we were stuck for a middle name but my husband chose Ceridwen.

As a kid I always liked Rose Marie, Samantha (call her Sammie) and I swore I would have a girl named Ruby Tuesday. For a boy, I liked Spencer James, Tyler Scott, and Nathaniel Anton.

I ended up with a Rebecca Ann. We call her Becky. Three of her great grandmas were Ann and it's my middle name. But we considered Lauren, Megan, Grace and Katherine.

My son is Thomas Martin. My ex picked the first and the middle is my maternal grandpa's name. We considered Scott, Stephen and James. My ex has an unusual name, Carsten, and wanted a very common name.

My baby girl was a tough one. There were now 4 of us trying to agree on a name and we could never come to a concensus. I was about 8 months pregnant and was driving when all of a sudden I thought Annette Marie. Everybody liked it, so that's what we named her. I thought we would call her Annie, but we usually call her Nettie, which is my Aunt/Godmother's name (short for Jeanette).

The Nettie thing had never even occured to me when we picked Annette. Just like my oldest is Becky and my Mom is Betty, the similarity never occured to me at the time.

jm19, is Willoughby from Sense & Sensibility (Jane Austen novel)? LOVE that name and book/movie/Jane Austen. I love Eden too (used to love that name when I watched Santa Barbara as a kid!). .

As a kid I always thought I'd name my daughter Lacey Deanna-Dawn (pronounced Dee awna). Horrible isn't it! Good thing my DH said, um, no. Ha ha.

Names I like now: Reagan, Riley, Ethan.

If I had a girl, I wanted to name her Jamie, but that was the name of DH's first girlfriend, so he vetoed that. I also liked Natalie, but that was the daughter of DH's annoying co-worker and she constantly talked about her daughter, so Natalie was a 'no go' as well. We ended up having boys anyway, so in the end, it didn't matter.

With my older son, I wanted to name him Justin or Kyle, but DH & I finally agreed on Jason.

My younger son is named Devin and that is the only name DH & I agreed upon. I suggested Justin & Kyle again, however. With him, we wanted a name that had 5 letters (since we all have 5 letters in our name), so that was somewhat limiting.

I can remember thinking of names for my kids when I was little. I don't really remember what they were, though. I think one of them was Angelica for a girl.

I really wanted to name our daughter Shelby. I don't know why but I really like that name...my husband wasn't totally for it but wasn't against it..until he told his mother and she said it sounded like a goat-roping boys name...gee, thanks. Then he was totally against it..yea, time to cut that cord.
Then he thought of Emily...so I let him have that and I picked her middle name, Katherine, which was my grandma's name. The funny thing was that after she was born we came across quite a few little girls named Shelby..hmmm. I made sure to point them all out to DH.

With my son, we couldn't come up with any names we liked. The only one we could come up with was what we named him - Dylan Jacob. Of course, I didn't tell my husband until it was too late where I came up with the name Dylan.......from Beverly Hills 90210. LOL!
