What special tradition do you have for Thanksgiving?

Do you do anything special for Thanksgiving? Maybe football game or any other activities that have become tradition.

APPLE TURKEY (Apple, Raisins, Olives and Toothpicks. Insert 4 toothpicks in the apple for legs (my husband started putting the raisins in the legs, then you take as many toothpicks as you would like and insert the raisins (these will be the tail feathers and I usually make two rows of feathers, then take another toothpick full of raisins and top with the olive (the olive is its head and eyes and you gently pull out the piminto for the turkey flappything)~My grandmother started this when we were little and every year I have done it and now my husband and daughter look forward to doing it. We are going to the Macy's Day Parade and my 14 year old asked about them and I told her we will make them before we leave for New York.

I like to wake up EARLY Thanksgiving morning and go in search of newspapers for the Black Friday ads and then lay them all out in the living room and plan my Friday.

My daughter likes watching the Dog Show after the parade.

My son's best friend is marching w/ the JMU marching band in that Parade. If you see a real pretty, tall blonde girl playing the flute, please shout out "Hey Nikki-Pat's Mom said hi! "
But as for traditions, for the past few years I have made EVERYTHING but the turkey the day before T-day. We get to sleep in, and have a nice breakfast. In the early afternoon, the kids help me set/decorate the table. I throw the bird in the oven, set the timer, and we all go see a movie (which is a big treat in our family!) When we get home, I set out the appetizers, and get to work reheating everything in the microwave. Mom and Dad come over, and we can eat, and relax, and not have to worry about a kitchen full of pots and pans to clean.

Not really. Just me and the DH since family is spread all over the country. I make the turkey and all the fixings. He eats, watches football and then falls asleep while I'm on the computer.
