Insulin Resistance Diet?

Has anyone tried this diet?

I had my bloodwork done last week and my triglycerides & cholesteral are still a little high, but for the 1st time my glucose was a little high. I don't have diabetes, but it is all over our family. She wants me to try this diet.

She says you can basically eat what you want, but you have to combine starches with proteins. I've done the South Beach Diet before and it does some of that, too. (I was very successful on that diet, and it works well, but it is hard to maintain long term.) The proteins slows the absorption of the starches in the blood. Anyway, I've not bought it yet, but wondered if anyone had done it and if it works and if it's hard to follow.

I don't know the details of this particular diet, but I spend a lot of time with body builders. I know from them that it is always a good idea to have protein with your carbs for the reasons you listed. It sounds like it would be worth a try. The best diet I have ever come across is the Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno. There are many similar diets out there. Palumbo seems to be the one that is hot right now. But they are all basically the same. . .get enough lean protein, moderate healthy fats, and low unrefined carbs. Eat small frequent meals and drink enough water. It might be worth it to lurk around on some bodybuilding message boards. They really know what works for losing fat and retaining muscle. And they are great at blowing holes in the latest fad diets. LOL!
